It’s barely December and we can already check “bake Christmas cookies” off our advent count-down list! Hudson is the perfect age to enjoy decorating cookies and I honestly couldn’t wait to get started. I’ve been looking forward to this all year.
To say that Hudson loved it would be an understatement. He thought it was basically the best Christmas activity ever! And I have to agree…it was the perfect way to kick off the holidays.
I found what worked best was to frost the cookies on my own and then let him have at it with the sprinkles. I tried letting him frost some cookies and all the frosting ended up either on his face, his shirt, or in his mouth. Basically everywhere BUT the cookie.
Of course we still managed to make a big mess.
But it was totally worth it. I mean, look at that face!
After we made our cookies we packed them up so that we could spread a little Christmas cheer to some of our neighbors. We just moved so we don’t really know anyone yet! We are totally setting a trend in the neighborhood! I’m trying to teach Hudson that Christmas isn’t just one day….it’s a season of joy and giving. And what better way to spread cheer than with cookies!
I mean, who wouldn’t love a package of these cookies waiting for them at their front door?
You can find the super cute #SpreadCheer printable tags I used here. They have several and they are all perfect for gift giving! It’s such a fun way to spread holiday cheer
Want to know my secret recipe for making perfect Christmas sugar cookies?
Yep! I used this sugar cookie mix from Betty Crocker and it really can’t be beat! My husband didn’t believe me when I told him they weren’t from scratch. They are that good. And so easy to make. We will for sure be making them again. And again. For the frosting I used Betty Crocker cream cheese frosting…because it is hands down my favorite. And after cleaning a million sprinkles off of my floor I was happy to not have to clean up even more dirty dishes. Win-win.
I want to encourage you to spread a little Christmas cheer to your friends and neighbors this season! Be sure to visit the Betty Crocker website to download a coupon and some #SpreadCheer tags.

We love decorating sugar cookies too, but oh man cleaning up sprinkles is a pain! Love your packaging and adding the cookie cutter is a cute addition!
I do this everyyear for sugar cookies, easy peasy and less clean up. The fun part is the decorating anyway.
So fun! We haven't baked or decorated cookies yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so very soon! Those holiday blossoms are fun, and you can't be the combination of a cookie AND a Hersey kiss. 🙂

I need to try that cookie mix. We tried the roll kind yesterday. I was thinking those would definitely be set up for cookie cutters, but they were a mess. They didn't come up after you cut them and it was a huge mess. Going to try Betty next time!
