Kind of feeling like the best mom ever right now! I love finding unique events around town that are not only fun, but educational too. Last week I took my kids to the Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience in Grand Rapids and it was SO amazing! As soon as we arrived Belle shouted “Look it’s Starry Night!” I was floored that she recognized the painting right away and was so happy to see how she lit up just looking at everything.
To be honest, my kids all looked at me strange when I said we were going to an art experience…but they were SO into it the entire time we were there!
When you visit, expect to be fully immersed in Van Gogh’s Almond Blossoms, The Bedroom, Fishing in Spring, and other iconic paintings like flowering orchard, sunflowers and irises. My girls really loved this life sized version of The Bedroom. It was so fun watching them soak in all the details of this fun exhibit.
By far our favorite part of the experience was the immersive room. Van Gogh’s art was projected throughout the entire room, and it moved around to music and quotes. We loved it so much we sat through the entire experience twice. Belle loved laying on the ground and watching art move all around her. It was so peaceful and beautiful.
Hudson enjoyed it so much. I was also so impressed with their art teacher at school because my kids not only knew who Van Gogh was but also knew several of his pieces. I should probably send her a thank you email.
We loved being able to spread out and enjoy the immersive experience.
The Starry Night was all of our favorite.
The kids also had a chance to create their own masterpieces by coloring and finishing a Van Gogh painting.
Their finished pieces were then scanned and displayed for everyone to see! Hudson’s The Starry Night is on the screen behind him. So cool!
We also enjoyed a virtual reality experience that took us inside Van Gogh’s work. Such a fun day!
Don’t miss out on your chance to enjoy this amazing exhibit! My kids truly loved every second of it and so did I! Tickets for the Grand Rapids Van Gogh Immersive Experience can be purchased here.
The Grand Rapids presentation was wonderful…….better than San Francisco!
