Vacay

If you follow me on instagram (girlintheredshoes) you probably figured out I’ve been on vacation in California for the last week! We got home yesterday and are exhausted! I’ll do a traveling with a baby post sometime soon…but Hudson did SO great on the plane!
For those of you who do not know, I was born and raised in southern California. In 2005 I moved to Michigan for graduate school and met Jon, who is now my husband! Needless to say I decided to stay in Michigan. I used to travel back to California 3-4 times a year but now that we have Hudson it’s a lot harder to get out there. My cousin got married last week in Del Mar, California and it was the perfect excuse to pack our bags and head to the west best coast!
My cousin and I grew up together and are the only two redheads in my family! I’m two years older but he was always super tall so my aunt used to tell people we were twins. (excuse the poor quality phone photo! It was dark at the rehearsal dinner)
I mean, look at us!!!! My cousin (and entire family) was thrilled that Hudson is a redhead too.
The wedding was at The Grand Del Mar and was absolutely gorgeous!
(dress / shoes)
We had SO much fun and loved getting dressed up! And my dress was totally awesome and new(ish) mama friendly…I highly recommend!
Love.
Stay tuned for more California adventures!

It must be so nice to make a trip back, and for a whole week too! You looked beautiful at the wedding! Navy is the perfect color in my opinion — it can be dressed up or down so easily. Looking forward to reading more about your trip!

Oh good Lord…. the Grand Del Mar is one of my favorite places in this entire world! I went there for my 30th birthday last year. Did you happen to see if the horses are back? Gees… I can only imagine how gorgeous the wedding was. And regarding red heads… I have one red headed cousin, and my husband has a redheaded uncle! I would so not be disappointed if we had a redheaded child of our own one day.

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
