Trucks and wagons and puppy-dog tails

Trucks and wagons and puppy-dog tails. That’s what little boys are made of.

Hudson is all boy all the time. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love being a boy mom.

I think if I had a daughter, I would feel the same way about princess dresses, hair bows, and ballet slippers. That’s the funny thing about motherhood. Whatever your child is in to, you are in to too.  You embrace it and love it because whatever makes your child happy, makes you happy too. Your child becomes your favorite person in the whole world.

Hudson and I had such a good day yesterday. We played at a new bounce house place and slid down the giant slide hand in hand together. For an hour! But he held my hand the entire time and his face lit up with pure joy. We ate mac n’ cheese. We spent a ton of time outside and went for a long walk in our red wagon. These are the moments I will cherish forever.

Motherhood is my greatest blessing.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you know that I also cherish the time I spent breastfeeding Hudson. Today I want to introduce you to a new resource that I think is really helpful if you are breastfeeding. It’s an app on your phone called iBaby.

Every nursing mother has at one point been fed up with scribbling notes on scraps of paper in the middle of the night to keep track of breastfeeding sessions. iBaby is an iPhone app now available in the app store ($0.99) that enables users to keep track of breastfeeding sessions by recording their time, duration, and side used. Data is stored in a daily summary page and can be retrieved and shared via email in a pdf format. The app also features a reminder so mothers can watch for early hunger cues.

What I love about this app is that it helps you remember which side you nursed on, and for how long. Those first few weeks of motherhood are exhausting and I remember having no clue which side I nursed Hudson on…sometimes even minutes after we finished! I also love that the app is clean, simple, and straightforward…which makes it easy to understand and easy to use…even when you are exhausted!
You can find the iBaby app in the App Store here. You can also find out more information on their facebook page or twitter. Happy breastfeeding!

That app looks great! I could have used that when I was up in the middle of the night writing in the notes section of my phone which side did what! Thanks! 🙂

you are absolutely right… at first i had no idea what to do with a boy, but now i am SO excited to get him a wagon and trucks and all kinds of boy toys!

also, fyi- what to expect has a free app that helps with BF. i dont think it's as in depth as this one appears to be, but it helps you remember what side and how long they nursed for.

Hudson is such a cutie. I agree, as a mom, you'll be into whatever they like because it makes them happy, which makes us happy. Bring on the trains and trucks! Will definitely have to remember that app in a few months when I begin this breastfeeding journey all over again. I'm so hoping we have a better outcome this time around. It's one of my biggest fears with #2.

Aaah, how sweet. I, too, love being a boy mama. And a girl mama! I have 3 boys and 1 girl and each one adds so much to my life. I also like the grass in the picture as here in MN we are getting another 10 inches of snow. Is it heading your way?

#ad It’s that time of year! Time to make sure yo #ad It’s that time of year! Time to make sure your child is up to date on their well-child visits and vaccines! As the chief advocate for my kids, I always want to make decisions that are the best for them and for our family. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for these little loves of mine, and I know all of you can relate! That is why I vaccinate my kids. Vaccinating your child is one of the safest and most effective things you can do to protect them against serious preventable diseases. If you live in Michigan like we do, it’s time to schedule that well-child visit and make sure your kids are up to date on their vaccinations! I’ve done a lot of research and talked to our pediatrician at length about what is best for my family and I would encourage you to do so too. It’s normal to have questions—it makes you a good parent! But make sure you are getting answers from credible sources. Remember, vaccines are safe, effective, and help protect everyone. Ultimately I decided to vaccinate my children because not doing so puts them at risk of contracting a potentially deadly disease. I want the best for my kids. If you have questions or need a reliable resource, check out @IVaccinateMI for information and tools based on real medical science and research to help Michigan parents protect their kids from vaccine-preventable diseases.
