Sadie Mae: 1 Month

Our sweet Sadie is one month old! The month has flown by and I already can’t imagine life without her! She is the perfect addition to our little family and my heart bursts with love for BOTH my babies. I seriously can’t believe they are both mine. Love them so much. It really is true what they say…..when you have that second baby your heart just doubles in size.

Sadie is such a good baby. She’s a great eater and was up to 10 lbs 6.5 oz at her 2 week check up, which was AMAZING. She’s starting to get little rolls on her arms and legs and I’m obsessed! So far she looks a lot like Hudson did when she was a baby and also looks just like me. She has a tiny bit of strawberry blonde fuzz on her head just like big brother did….so fingers crossed we have another blue-eyed redhead! Someone pinch me!
Hudson has been a great big brother. I mentioned here that he wasn’t sleeping well (as in fighting us for over 2 hours at bedtime and waking up several times in the night). Well, I am happy to report things are MUCH better! I think it deserves it’s own post…so I’ll work on that for you. Overall Hudson has been an amazing big brother. He loves to help me by bringing me Sadie’s diapers, burp cloths, and toys. He kisses her gently on the head all the time and loves to hold her hand. I couldn’t ask for more! He has a few times asked me to put her down so that I can play with him or acted out because he was jealous, but generally he is really sweet around her.
Just like her big brother, we have been blessed with a great eater, but not a great sleeper. Sadie sleeps about a 3 hour stretch at night and then usually sleeps in 2 hour stretches after that. So it’s not all sunshine and roses over here….we are tired! But I know how quickly this time goes and soon enough she’ll sleep for longer stretches. Sadie would probably sleep better if she could sleep on her tummy. I let her nap on the couch next to me (while I watch her like a hawk) on her tummy and homegirl loves it. She also sleeps really well while being held….but it’s “back to sleep” for us at bedtime. I’m mean like that!
We just love this sweet girl. Sadie is really easy going unless you are changing her diaper, she’s hungry, or you put her down when she wants to cuddle. I’ve been cuddling her at every possible moment because babies don’t keep. She gives me baby fever and makes me want to have a bunch more babies! We might be in trouble!

I know what you mean – we might be in trouble too, lol! I have to keep reminding myself that that sweet newborns turn into busy babies and then crazy toddlers. That helps temper the baby fever a bit, lol!:) Sadie is a little gem. So sweet!

I can't wait for your post about Hudson's sleep. My almost 3 year old daughter is going through the same thing right now and I'm due next month. I can't imagine having two non sleepers on my hands. 🙂

Wow, how is Sadie a month old already?! They are so darling together. My second was a tummy sleeper too made me soooo nervous! Around 4 months old I got the ok from her Pediatrician to just let her sleep that way since she was rolling on her own and her sleep definitely improved. You'll get there sooner than you think!

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
