Happy Monday! I had a fabulous birthday weekend! My mom asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday….and the only thing I really wanted was to go to Ikea! So we did! I grew up with several Ikea locations around me, so it was never a big deal to pop in for a quick visit. But now, Ikea is over 2 hours away….so it’s totally an all day trip!
Baby’s first (and probably last) trip to Ikea. There were so many screaming kids there that day…..remind me to never bring baby boy with me.
First thing we did when we got there was have some chocolate cake! It was amazing! And unfortunately this is the last picture I took. It was super crowded that day and I was overwhelmed with decisions. I ended up buying curtains for the baby’s room and for our room, a few frames, and a small dresser for our room. Once I get everything up I’ll be sure to post photos!
We also went to another favorite store that is just down the street…..Home Goods! Buy Buy Baby was right next door so we got a laugh out of parking in the Expectant Mothers spot! I had to document it! At Home Goods I bought a hamper for the nursery and my mom found some cute wire baskets. Then we ended our trip with a visit to Trader Joe’s. Talk about the perfect day!
The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, working on the nursery, and watching Sophie and Wrigley play together. All of a sudden they are best friends, and I love it!
Thanks for all the birthday love….you guys are the best!
i still cannot believe i've never been to an IKEA but it is a drives away so i've been holding off.
that chocolate cake looks incredible!
love your skirt and the picture of your furbabies.
glad you had a great birthday!
Bless you for venturing into Ikea on a Saturday. Brad and I are debating going this Saturday when we're in the area. Say a prayer. It sounds like you had an awesome weekend!
So glad you had such a great birthday!! Sounds like a great weekend! You are so cute- I love that skirt!
Happy (belated) Birthday! So fun that you went to Ikea! I know how you feel, Ikea is over 2 hours from where I live (Tahoe!) now too…we don't get there too often, but it's so much fun to walk around that place!
Aww, what a bummer that you live 2 hours away from an Ikea! I'm about 30 minutes away and can't get enough of that place 😉 Glad you got to visit and buy some stuff for your bday!
LOVE the skirt! I think I have the same on TJs?? Ikea is a pretty big hike for me too its like an hour away and SO stressful whenever I go but so worth it- you look great momma:)
Hope you had an amazing birthday lady! You look so cute..love that skirt. Ikea is amazing!
I live dangerously close to an IKEA. Hope you found some great deals!! Love the pictures of your cute pets. 🙂

Sounds like a fun and productive weekend!!
I can't wait to see what baby's nursery looks like and so glad that you had a wonderful birthday weekend! 🙂
Sounds like an awesome day!! I've never been to Ikea and really wanna check one out! Also love how your pets get along. Ours don't : (
The perfect day! Especially with the chocolate cake, obviously! 🙂
They are currently building an Ikea in Winnipeg – it'll be open just in time for me to move away! Haha.
Those expectant mother signs are EVRYWHERE here! They have them at the mall, grocery stores, walmarts, etc. It's a nice perk 🙂
Hi! I am a new follower! Congrats on your upcoming baby! I have 3 little ones 🙂
that cake looks delish! and happy birthday girl!
Yay fun birthday!! And hello new Bff's wrigley and Sophie! I love it!
I'm so glad that I only live 20 min from Ikea a perk of living in Phoenix! My fiance' is always taken back by how many people "flock" there and how busy it is inside!
Sounds like the PERFECT birthday!! I love doing just about anything when my Mom is in tow!
Happy birthday girl with the beautiful hair!!
Glad your pets are getting on. Friends are always better than enemies!
Julie, my husband and I went to Ikea on Saturday too ! How crazy is that? Although I don't think you were at the one in Atlanta haha. You'll have to share what you bought! I always go overboard in that store 🙂
I had a Trader Joe's stop this weekend too. 🙂 Absolutely great way to spend a day off! LOL
I can't wait to see your IKEA finds.
Also, I wish you could see what I'm wearing right now – we are twins from our Ikea pic. No joke.
Julie! I just stumbled upon your blog for the first time today, and have been here for ages looking around. What a fun visit I've had (and I'm so sad I haven't found you until now!)! I think in many ways we are Kindred Spirits! My dream birthday trip would be to Ikea and Trader Joes – we have neither within 3 hours of us. Aaaand we just recently remodeled our kitchen by painting the cabinets white and adding beadboard to the ends. Still deciding what to do with my island…I would love to do something really natural – like brick or stone maybe?? Jury is still out on that one. – Anyway, this is turning into a novel. Just wanted to say "hi" and that it's been so nice getting to know you today 🙂
I went on many shopping trips to Ikea while pregnant, they just have great stuff for organizing the nursery, etc. !! I can't believe it has been 4 months since I have been there! (my baby boy is 4 months) And that chocolate cake looks soo yummy!
Happy birthday!!
P.S.- Do you ever have a bad hair day?? 🙂 So gorgeous!
