Oh Hey Friday

Oh Hey Friday…nice to see you again. This week my post is brought to you entirely by iPhone photos. #pregnant #lazy

{one} Yep, I’m still pregnant. 39 weeks and 2 days. And it would be kind of awesome if baby decided to come today. Jon and I were married on October 5th. Hudson was born on September 5th. So June 5th would work for us pretty nicely. Come on baby!
{two} I’ve been doing my best to fill up Hudson’s love tank before the baby arrives. We’ve done lots of fun things and cuddled on the couch and in bed more times than I can count. He knows something is up and has been crazy cranky and clingy. And don’t get me started on bedtime. It’s been up to a three hour battle. And I’m exhausted. I’m trying to remind myself that his whole world is going to change and he just needs a little extra mommy time. But dang, it’s been a rough week on this super pregnant mommy.
{three} This week a friend brought this quote to my attention and it has helped me get through the rough patches: “It will be gone before you know it. The fingerprints on the wall appear higher and higher. Then suddenly they disappear.” – Dorothy Evslin. It pretty much puts everything in to perspective, right?
{four} I totally forgot to blog about our May Citrus Lane box! Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription service for your little one. Click here for 40% off your first box AND free shipping. I age Hudson up by 6 months in the system and we’ve always been happy with our surprises each month. And Hudson loves getting a special box in the mail just for him. This month we got Portions to Go from Goodbyn. We have a few other containers from Goodbyn and love them, so I was excited to see these in our box. They will come in handy once Hudson starts real school! We also got this fun Finger Paint Set by Manhattan Toy Co. It came with several fun “tools” to paint with and the paint is kind of gelatin like. It’s really different and Hudson loves it! Also in our box were some Sand Toys (Master Bricklayer Set) by Hape (which hello, huge hit in our house) and Sunscreen Bands from Sunburn Alert. They let you know when you child has been in the sun too long or may need more sunscreen. We don’t really need these in our house since I am the Queen of Sunscreen, but Hudson likes that they have a “big green guy” (the Hulk) on them.
{five} Silly boy. Hudson is very particular lately about his clothes. You can’t see it, but he has on his jammies and boots that are too big and on the wrong feet. He totally rocked this look all day. I’m picking my battles, that’s for sure.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend! Please send good baby vibes my way!

Linking up with these lovely ladies….

Oh Hey Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! Let’s do this….FIVE things:
{one} I’m usually home with Hudson on Wednesday all day, but this week our schedule got messed up and I am home with him today instead…..hello fun Friday! I’ve asked him what he wants to do today and he said choo-choo. So, I need to find a train of some sort, I guess?

{two} I had maternity photos taken last week with Katie Grace Photography and I a SO happy we braved the cold to do them! I had zero nice pictures of me during this pregnancy so it is so nice to have some documentation of this baby bump! But holly belly button. My belly button is flat, but you can totally see my weird/flat/bump of a button through my dress….haha! I promise to overshare the photos next week!
{three} Hudson’s school sent us this photo of him in the sandbox with his buddies yesterday. And I could just die from the cuteness. How come he won’t hold still and pose like this for me?
{four} I posted this on Instagram last night…..Dear Grey’s Anatomy, I just can’t take it. ALL THE FEELINGS. I’ve been watching this show since the beginning and there are no words for this. If you are watching you know exactly what I’m saying!
{five} Dang, I’ve got nothing for #5. My husband has a horrible cold and my hips still hurt so much that it’s super hard to walk….so we are a HOT mess over at our house! I’m so thankful for my mom who has stepped in and helped us out all week…what would we do without moms?
Have a great weekend!
And now the link ups….

And don't even get me started about Grey's! Ugh… I will be watching last night's episode today. I'll be bawling, I'm sure.

Grey's Anatomy, my daughter has been sad all week over this. Like you, she has watched from season one and she actually cried while telling me about it. I'm not a faithful watcher as some. I have to agree about moms – watching my two grandchildren so my daughter and her husband are in Mexico for an anniversary trip. Yes, I tell her all the time, "moms are wonderfu." LOL! Enjoy yours!

I honestly haven't kept up with Grey's for a few years now, and knowing what I know now, I am kind of glad. I could not handle what just happened. At all. Why, Shonda, WHY!?! Your sweet boy looks so cute in all of these photos. And I SO know what you mean. I feel like other people get the best photos of Caleb, but any time I pull out the camera, Caleb automatically goes into "duck and hide" mode where it is impossible to get a shot of his adorable face (that's not blurry, lol!)

Have a great weekend, sweet Mama! Can't wait to see the rest of the photos!:)

Hudson with his buddies is just TOO cute! I wish Mason's school would send me pictures. When he was in daycare, she would, and I LOVED it but they don't do that now. I'd just love to see him with his little friends!
LOVE the maternity photos! Can't wait to see more next week!
Also, Grey's, OH MY GOSH. I've missed a couple weeks and saw this week's and boy was I confused and feeling all the feelings too. I've watched from the beginning and don't know how they're going to pull it off without Derek!

Oh Hey Friday

Three cheers for Friday! It’s been a long week and I so ready for some rest and relaxation this weekend.

{one} Wait, forget rest and relaxation this weekend. We have SO much to do….#1 on my list is paint the baby’s room. We have less than 9 weeks until he/she makes an appearance so we need to get on this now.
{two} Hudson is finally adjusting to sleeping in his big boy bed. Hallelujah! High fives all around! I’ll write a post about everything we did right (and did wrong) soon, I promise. He’s so cute in his big bed, I just can’t take it! We need to take his crib out of his room this weekend too….it’s still hanging out in there because (1) we are procrastinators, (2) we didn’t plan on transitioning him until this weekend, and (3) we can’t get it through the door without taking it apart and see item (1) i.e. procrastinators.
{three} It’s been raining over here the past couple of days and I love it! Rainy days spent cuddled up on the couch are my favorite….but a certain 2 year old doesn’t feel the same way, so splashing in puddles with the baby bump in tow it is!
{four} We have family/maternity photos coming up in a couple of weeks and I have no clue what to wear. I’m thinking I want a white lace dress, but can’t find the perfect one. I love this one, but it will probably be cold, so I’ll need a sweater or jacket. Anyone want to be my stylist? I pay in virtual hugs and instagram shout-outs.
{five} Who else is obsessed with Fixer Upper? I’ve told my husband on several occasions that we should move to Waco Texas just so Joanna and Chip can make over a house for us. I seriously LOVE everything they do…and they are so cute together. I could watch their show all day…it’s my favorite.

Have a great weekend!

Oh Hey Friday!

It’s finally Friday! This week has been a rough one for me mentally and physically….I’m glad to see it end! Let’s do this….five things….
{one} Our Citrus Lane box arrived and it is possibly our most favorite one ever! Everything was spot on and super cute. Click here for 50% off your first box and free shipping. You can cancel at any time. This month Hudson got the cutest space apron from Handstand Kids, honey graham sticks from back to Nature, a dinosaur wallet from Stephen Joseph, which was perfect timing because I had just told my husband we should get Hudson a pretend wallet because he is obsessed with mine. As soon as Hudson saw it he asked for some “monies” to go in it. Love him. We also got a reusable sticker bad from Melissa & Doug….we had one of these before and Hudson used it so much we wore it out, so I was glad to get a new one. Hudson loves all the trucks, cars, and choo-choos! Such a fun box!
{two} Hudson has become the king of stalling bed time. Our routine is ridiculous. He takes a bath and then requests to get in our bed to watch TV/read books/jump on daddy/play with toys/eat applesauce. Seriously as soon as I’m trying to wind him down he asks for ALL THE THINGS. And I’m about to loose my mind. He knows it’s bedtime and is pulling out all the stops to try and drag it out as long as possible. He’ll even say he’s pooped his diaper in order to stall going to bed. Little stinker.

{three} My most favorite Kendra Scott necklace is on sale for 25% off at Nordstrom right now, thanks to their awesome price matching policy. I already had the “chalcedony” color so I decided to pick up the white pearl one too. LOVE. I get compliments every time I wear it. Seriously, get this necklace!

{four} This one is for the grandmas…and the aunts. I proudly present the ABC-Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Medley.
{five} My husband and I loved reading all your boy name and girl name ideas…..keep them coming please, we need HELP.
Have a great weekend!
And now the link ups….

I guess the bedtime stalling thing is the norm! Noah and all his friends are doing this now too! I was just saying yesterday that I feel like we start to wind down with bath and then noah gets riled up (with the help of my husband) right before bed! I hope this stops soon!

  5. Jessica says

    March 27, 2015 at 12:10 pm

Haha! Your little bedtime staller cracks me up – applesauce? Poopy diaper? Whatever it takes, lol! Hoping it's just a (short) phase for your sake, Mama. Because even though it's kind of funny, it's also tough! We just went through a phase like that and I don't want to deal with it again anytime soon! Happy Friday, sweet Julie:)

  6. Jess Scott says

    March 27, 2015 at 12:28 pm

I LOVED the Citrus Lane box this month!! We saved the wallet and apron for his Easter basket, and I can't wait for Cam to see! We have the BIGGEST staller at bedtime, so I started using a routine with stickers as a reward. What time does Hudson go to bed? I always feel like we put him to bed too late, but, of course, he never wants to go to bed earlier.

My oldest son was always the king of stalling. I'd like to say he outgrew it, but at age 10, he still comes into the living room 20 times after bed to say goodnight!
Love the Melissa & Doug sticker pads. Definitely a favorite of my kids!

girl. this was happening with kaye! it was taking her until around 10 pm to fall asleep every night. not only was that suuuuper annoying because i wanted some "me" time, but it also broke my heart knowing that she wasn't sleepy. what i'm saying is…we dropped her nap. now she falls asleep before seven…well for the past week she has. also. there's no stalling. she's asleep within minutes.

I think this was our favorite Citrus Lane box too! The apron was a HUGE hit! Our son has been stalling bedtime, he will say as we are walking out the door, "Mom! I need something…" Then has to brainstorm something to tell us. Hopefully Hudson gets better about it and you get some rest this weekend!

Yep. Stalling at bedtime. Always. Lucky for her daddy isn't as much of a nazi as mom is :p

I am obsessed w/ those Kendra Scott necklaces but I can't bring myself to spend that on one piece of jewelry… ugh! Hoping my hubby is picking up my hints since my bday is right around the corner 😉

Ha callie used to be a huge staller too… but she just kinda stopped. A friend of mine had to make a bedtime routine sticker chart for her kid to keep her on track — and it totally worked! But she like lives on routine so it played to the kids style. Just an idea if someone didn't already suggest it! 🙂

Oh Hey Friday

Happy Friday! Let’s do this…..

{one} I took Hudson to get his hair cut this week. Why do little boys have to grow up so fast? I’m never 100% satisfied with his cut….no matter where we go. But it’s probably because the hairdresser only has so much time of him sitting still…and then it’s just all down hill from there. So I guess we’ll take what we can get!

{two} My friend recently introduced me to Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray and oh my word, it’s my new favorite product! I spray my face after my make up is done in the morning and it helps it last all day. It’s not perfect, but sooooo much better than without this spray! It’s light and fresh and I can’t even feel it once it dries. Trust me on this one, it’s a keeper.

{three} Thanks to it being winter and this pregnancy, my skin has been super dry. Enter Aveeno Skin Relief Cream. I slather this on at bedtime and wake up soft and moisturized in the morning. I’ve tried tons of creams and this is the only one that has worked for me. And it makes my skin feel so good. I even put it on my face!

{four} I just have to document this, so I’ll remember it forever. Hudson LOVES applesauce in a pouch. We go through a TON of them each week. Anyway, we picked up some chocolate pudding pouches at Costco a week or so ago and they have a brown cow on the box. Hudson calls his applesauce “apple” and has now been asking for the pudding by saying “cow apple?” So of course, that’s what we call them too. Love that boy.
{five} These cups. We totally need them. Hudson knows how to fill up his water glass and they are just too cute not to buy, am I right?
I want to tell you real quick about the First Years Welcome to the Family Video Contest. All it takes is a quick smartphone video and story (100 words or less) about what makes your family unique. Once you enter, your family has the chance to star in a new online reality series plus score $7,500+ in prizes! Contest entry ends March 1, so grab your phone, get rolling and head over to family.thefirstyears.com

Enjoy your weekend!

Oh Hey Friday….

I’m back for Oh Hey/5 on Friday! It seems like it’s been a while but I’m slowly getting back into my blogging grove.

{one} Please ignore my stellar photography…..Hudson has started asking for “1 minute” when we ask him to do something, like eat dinner, take a bath, or clean up his toys. He points one little finger in the air and says “1 minute” over and over. We just about died the first time he did it (and captured it on Instagram!) because we never have done that in our house with him. So he must have learned it at school. Now he’s turned in to quite the little negotiator always asking for “1 minute”. He’s started now asking for “1 cookie” or “1 cracker” only to eat his one helping and then ask for one more. This kid. He kills me.

{two} After a not white Christmas and a December of green grass we got hit with some major snow this week. And 3 degree temps! Remind me why I live here again? Oh yeah, because of my husband. He owes me big time.

{three} Confession: Christmas toys still haven’t been put away. Also, I have never in my life watched American Idol. I know. Who am I? But my husband’s cousin was supposed to be on it so of course we tuned in. Unfortunately we didn’t see him, but are still excited for him anyway! He got a golden ticket to Hollywood. Congrats Alex!

{four} The Bachelor. Prince Farming. I missed the first episode but LOVE Sheaffer’s recap posts so much that I’m going to have to watch it. Because, why not? And seriously, check out here recaps. Because, hello, tears of laughter streaming down my face.

{five} Speaking of Prince Farming. He’s all mine. Boots and hat and all. Happy Friday my friends!

Oh Hey Friday!

Three cheers for Friday! Let’s do this….

 photo IMG_9288copy.jpg
{one} First of all, thank you all for your sweet comments on our big news yesterday! I am so excited to finally be able to share it with all of you! I promise to answer all your questions in a bump post (yes…there’s already a bump!) next week. And here’s a tip for all of you….if you put your pregnancy announcement on the back of your Christmas card, you might want to follow up with some of your family members to make sure they actually saw it! My aunt was texting me and didn’t mention anything about the baby, so I finally asked her if she got our card…and she was all “yes! It’s so cute!”…and then I asked if she read the back. Well, a few minutes later she called me all excited. So no, she hadn’t read the back. My grandma got it right away, so I totally had to tease my poor aunt!
 photo IMG_3495copy.jpg
{two} Bring on the Christmas jammies! Here’s Hudson in his jams last year…be still my heart! So just a heads up, there is a jammie link up in the works! Can’t wait to share the details!
{three} So far Hudson has zero clue what is going on. He thinks the baby is in his tummy, not mine, and he also says “NO!” when we ask him if he wants to be a big brother. So yeah, we’re working on it.

{four} Hudson “helped” me bake cookies the other day and it was so much fun! I cheated and used cookie dough I bought, but it still totally counts as baking in my book.

Hudson had a blast helping me shape the cookies and then watching them bake. I wish I could bottle him up, he’s so stinkin’ cute!

{five} I’m giving away a $100 Amazon gift card here…it’s super easy to create an entry, trust me! And the odds are totally in your favor!

Happy Friday! And now I’m linking up with basically everyone….

Oh Hey Friday!

Hey Friday, nice to see you again!
{one} After several days of feeling crummy, I’m happy to report my main man is back!
{two} It’s starting to feel like fall over here and I’m loving it. Give me boots and a cute scarf and I am one happy girl.
 photo WeddingPhotos243.jpg
{three} Speaking of happy girl, it’s our 6th wedding anniversary on Sunday….SIX years I’ve been married to this guy. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
{four} Did you read this post about praying for your future son or daughter in law’s parents?
“You don’t know how much it means to me that you give your children everything you have every single day…even on days when it’s not much at all. Because your child will fall asleep next to mine for fifty-some years. Your child will be the one holding my child’s hand when our first grandchild is born. And when they face the darkest days of their lives, it will be your child and mine, facing into the struggle together.”
Cue the ugly tears. I often pray for Hudson’s future spouse but have started to pray for their parents too. Being a parent is hard work and I pray that Hudson’s wife learns how to love others from the loving example set by her mom and dad.

And now I am crying ugly tears. Hadn't even thought about the parents, out there right now in the trenches – just like we are – raising little ones who will one day be our precious boys' future spouses. And that day will be here before we know it. Gah. Can't handle it.

My LifeGroup at church just started "The Circle Maker" series, and in the video, a wife spoke about learning at her wedding how her husband's parents had prayed for her every day since she was born. Cue the ugly tears, yes! Love the scarf on you – I love getting ideas for redhead colors since I'm one, too!

Oh Hey Friday!

Oh Hey Friday!!! Good to see you! Let’s do this….
{one} Thank you all for your sweet comments on yesterday’s confessions post. Sometimes it’s hard to be honest and put yourself out there but you made it easy. You all mean more to me than you will ever know.
{two} Let’s talk dining room chairs. The ones we have now are mis-matched and the seat is fabric covered. They are cute and all but I’m not in love. And they are very hard to clean, especially when a certain someone runs around the house with sticky hands and gets spaghetti sauce/chocolate ice cream all over them. I am in love with these chairs from Restoration Hardware. I also plan to have a farm house table built soon (ahem, husband, ahem) to go with them. What do you think?

{three} I talked about potty training in this post, but our potty seats finally arrived! (for the record, he likes both of the types we bought). Two nights ago, Hudson asked to sit on the potty so I put the seat down for him and plopped him down. He sat there for awhile talking, nothing happened, then he said “all done!” Well. I didn’t put his diaper back on because it was time to go take a bath. 30 seconds after I took him off the potty he peed all over the kitchen floor. And then while I was cleaning that up, he peed on the living room carpet. Oh. My Word. I am SO not looking forward to actually starting potty training.

{four} In my comments yesterday a few of you mentioned you would like to start getting involved with sponsored posts. Working with sponsors can be a fun way to engage your readers while bringing in a little extra income! I have a few recommendations for anyone who is interested. The first is Pollinate Media. I’m a little biased, but Pollinate is really is a wonderful company for bloggers seeking fun and exciting ways to work with brands. You need to have a minimum of 20,000 page views per month (set up Google Analytics to figure out this number). You can see a few examples of work I’ve done for Pollinate here, here, here, and here. If you do not have that many page views, a great alternative is their sister company, Weave Made Media. Another company I’ve enjoyed working for is Linqia. They set a budget for you based on your blog stats and are usually pay per click for campaigns.  You can see examples of my work with them here, here, and here. If you have any questions about working for these companies let me know! (and while you’re at it, I could use some more clicks on the Pull-Ups links in this post).

{five} Last night my husband and I hit up a massive kids church consignment sale. Hudson made out big time. Lots and lots of trucks, some animals, a Lightning McQueen, Woody and Bullseye, a puzzle, and a ton of books. I don’t know who’s more excited….me over the great deals we scored or Hudson when he sees them all.

Happy Friday!

I'm totally saving this post for your notes about working with sponsors. I'm not ready for that (size or time) but had been meaning to ask you some questions about it – so perfect timing! Ok potty training — seriously you described our experience almost to a T! As for consignment sales I LOVE them! I recently found a good (huge) one in Lansing I'll be checking out their next one. Have you ever been to Once Upon a Child? It's a consignment store (sell & buy) they have great stuff. I used to go there in CO and they have 2 in the GR area (I was just looking to see if the Lansing one had opened yet but it hasn't). Anyway if your'e looking for more deals — great place to check out! Happy Friday!

Thank you for sharing your tips on sponsored posts – I've been thinking about looking into that, but really didn't know where to start. So excited for Hudson – you guys found a ton of great stuff at that sale. He's one lucky little guy! And finally, have a great weekend sweet friend:)

Haha, oh Hudson, sitting on the potty like a big boy! We've started (loosely) potty training too and already had our share of accidents. They always seem to happen right after you're trying to get them to use the potty! My daughter ran off into her room and peed right on her carpet. Ughhh. This is when I wish we didn't have any carpet in the house, it's a pain to clean! Good luck though, I hope he catches on quick and I hope you share his progress!

Those chairs look so cool- question though… are they hard on top or soft? Also, potty training has to happen in my house as well but I did it before and let me tell, you there's nothing worse than stepping in a pool of pee…. well there probably is :-S

You raked up at the Sale. Hudson should be occupied for awhile with all these new goodies.

Oh Hey Friday!

It’s Friday…can I get an amen?!?!

{one} I’m so thankful for this boy. Sometimes I can’t believe he’s mine. My heart could just burst.
{two} And then I take photos like this and there is no doubt about it, this boy is mine! Red hair, pale skin, and a love for accessories! See him wearing my bracelet? Hudson is my little mini me.
{three} I’m a HUGE procrastinator when it comes to house projects. A week or so ago my mom helped me finally hang our new hallway light fixture! I’m in LOVE (it’s from World Market, but no longer available). It only sat in our living room for a month before it got hung….oops.
{four} Of course after posting about our bedtime troubles
Hudson switches gears and starts going to bed no problem. I’m crossing
my fingers and toes that this new routine sticks. An unhappy boy at
bedtime is zero fun for anyone.
{five} I’ve had this cuff (in gold) in my Nordstrom cart for over a week now. I want it SO bad but I’m trying super hard to not spend any more money….first world problems.
Enjoy your weekend!

I'm a terrible influence and would tell you to totally go for the bracelet at such a good price. But, then again, there are several things sitting in my cart that I am still contemplating and haven't pulled the trigger on because I've already blown the budget big time this month. Oh Hey Friday!

I don’t know about you, but I sort of miss the 5 on Friday posts. I know it will be back some day but I started feeling like a lost little puppy dog with no place to post my random happenings. I mean, how do I fill my Thursday nights if I don’t have a 5 on Friday post to write?  Seriously, I was sad. But the good news is my girl Karli from September Farm started a new Friday link up! Because there’s nothing I like quite like consistency.
Let’s see if I remember how to do this….
{one} Nordstrom is having their big anniversary sale and I have never been more excited to be a card holder! Card holders get early access to the sale, so naturally I logged in yesterday morning and snatched up not one, but two pairs of Kendra Scott earrings on major sale! Ekkk! And I promptly then convinced all my work girls that they each needed a pair too, logged back on and snagged some more! We’ve had a H-E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS kind of week at work so if it’s Kendra Scott earrings we want, then it’s Kendra Scott earrings we shall get.
{two} Because of said week at work, I’m taking today off to spend some time with my grilled cheese lovin’ boy. And I can’t wait. I also have Monday off (hello 4 day weekend!) because it’s my BIRTHDAY!
{three} Speaking of my birthday, I have something amazing in store for you on Monday. Actually several amazing things in store for you. Here’s a little hint of JUST ONE of the pretties that is to come. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.
{four} Toy to the Story. Recently Toy Story 3 was on the Disney Channel so we recorded it….and I think we’ve watched it at least once every day since. Oh my word, Hudson is straight up obsessed with this movie. He will actually sit still and watch it. I’m thinking we need to buy all three of the movies soon…because even though I think it’s the best one, there’s only so much of the third installment that I can take.

{five} Don’t forget I’m giving away a Cuisinart Baby Food Maker! It’s super easy to use and I wish I had it when I was making all of Hudson’s food! Enter here.

Be sure to link up with September Farm and The Farmer’s Wife!

Oh, the Toy Story love! We're right there with you. We downloaded the 2nd one to the iPad for vacation and Mac's been watching it nonstop since May! I just recently joined the Disney Movie Club, so I bought the other two to give us a break from this one. And Monster's University is On Demand right now, so we've been pushing that one, but he still loves his Toy Story!
