My Mom’s House

My mom’s house is amazing people. When I was in CA for my business trip I tried to take some photos of her house so I could share how cute it is with my blog readers. Unfortunately I decided to take the pictures right before we had company coming over….so I didn’t get very far. And then I forgot to take any more. I really wish I could show you the front of the house…because it is beyond cute. Maybe my mom can snap a few on her camera to share with us? (that is your homework mom!). Anyway, here are the few I did manage to take. First up, the living room. So cute. Don’t you love the hardwood floors? They are original to the house, which was built in the 1940s (or was it the 1920s?…mom, please help a girl out.)

Next up is the dining room. When my mom bought the house in the 80s, there were Greek goddesses and fountains on the walls in here. She quickly covered it up with flowerly wall paper which has since been replaced with paint. I love the woodwork in this room and the built in cabinets. The room on the left is the kitchen, which I also forgot to photograph which is really sad because it is probably the cutest room in the house! You can see a little of the cute checker board floor.
My mom collects cake plates. I love them. She needs to move closer to me so that we can share all of this great stuff!

Built in cabinets full of her depression glass collection.

Here is the den….complete with Pepper the cat! My mom is thinking about painting the woodwork in this room white. What do you think? I think it will look amazing! The paint in this room is a pale greenish yellow.

More den. And a glimpse of the pretty back yard.

Oh, and the guest bathroom! Not a very good picture, but you get the idea. And this must be when the doorbell rang and I had to stop taking pictures. So sad. Hopefully one day I’ll get her entire house up here because it is seriously so wonderful.

Okay, I admit it…. »

What a surprise to see my house on the blog! You're really challenging me to learn to use my camera, huh?

What a lovely place! I so wish I had the storage space to collect cake plates. I adore them!

#ad It’s that time of year! Time to make sure yo #ad It’s that time of year! Time to make sure your child is up to date on their well-child visits and vaccines! As the chief advocate for my kids, I always want to make decisions that are the best for them and for our family. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for these little loves of mine, and I know all of you can relate! That is why I vaccinate my kids. Vaccinating your child is one of the safest and most effective things you can do to protect them against serious preventable diseases. If you live in Michigan like we do, it’s time to schedule that well-child visit and make sure your kids are up to date on their vaccinations! I’ve done a lot of research and talked to our pediatrician at length about what is best for my family and I would encourage you to do so too. It’s normal to have questions—it makes you a good parent! But make sure you are getting answers from credible sources. Remember, vaccines are safe, effective, and help protect everyone. Ultimately I decided to vaccinate my children because not doing so puts them at risk of contracting a potentially deadly disease. I want the best for my kids. If you have questions or need a reliable resource, check out @IVaccinateMI for information and tools based on real medical science and research to help Michigan parents protect their kids from vaccine-preventable diseases.
