Middle Name Pride Day

Did you know that last week was Middle Name Pride Day? Don’t worry if you didn’t…I didn’t know it either until today! So now I’m wondering….what’s your middle name? I LOVE middle names and love hearing the stories that often go along with them!

Hudson’s middle name is Davis, which is my mom’s maiden name. It suits him perfectly because he looks SO much like the Davis family! Probably because I look like a Davis too.

See what I mean?

My middle name is Nicole…which I don't think has any meaning (I should look in to that). Kenley's middle name is Kouris which is my mama's maiden name as well! 🙂

Growing up I always associated my middle name with getting in trouble….Leah Nicole. I can already see myself doing the same with Avery. If she throws her sippy over the highchair….Avery Grace. =-) In all seriousness though, when hubs suggested the name Avery, I wasn't a huge fan. Then when he paired it with Grace, I fell in love. When I got married, I dropped Nicole and my maiden name is now my middle name. All of the women in my family have done it.

    My middle name is Kathleen.

My parents had an agreement that my dad got to pick the middle name of his girls, my mom would get to pick for the boys. Well… they had three girls. Woops. They both loved my first name Emily, but my dad wanted to call me Kathleen (Mom did NOT). So when I was born he recorded a voice mail message announcing baby girl "Kathleen, born April 24, 8 lbs 20 inches, etc." My mom was furious!

    ha.

My middle name is Mishel. It doesn't have any specail meaning, my mom just liked the name Michelle, but wanted to spell it different so I could be more unique!

My sons middle name is Lucas. We chose it for a couple reasons. His first name is Trey (which means 3, an important number to my husband and I). Lucas means "light giving" and also Luke, is the 3rd book of the new testament. We thought it was perfect for him!

my middle name is Kathleen, after my Great grandmother. My momma's middle name is also Kathleen. As a little girl, I always tried to get people to call me Kat, it never worked. haha 🙂

My middle name is LeAnn… not Leeann, Leanne, etc etc… but LeAnn. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to say "Big L, little E, big A, N, N" when spelling my name out! I don't believe it has a single bit of significance, other than that my mama liked the way it sounded with my first name, Katherine.

Of course, if you match it with Katie, which I go by, it sounds like the most southern, Coal Miners Daughter name– "Katie LeAnn, it's so good to see you!" which pretty much is only ever spoken by my aunt, Linda Sue 🙂

My middle name is Leigh and it is my mothers middle name so I passed down that same middle name to Harper Leigh. I guess we have a little tradition going!

I actually went by my middle name since the day I was born, so while some people's middle names never matter, mine certainly did! My parents just happened to like the way my names sounded that way, rather than switched around, so Alexa in the middle it was 🙂 However, going to doctors/new teachers/etc., I was always called by my first name and finally got sick of it, so I did a legal name change last year and switched my names + added my married last name. Whew, what a task it was, but completely worth it to now be called what I've truly always been!

This is so fun! My middle name is Catherine and I love it. My Grammy's (Dad's mom) name was Mary Catherine so mine is very similar to hers!

Oh Hudson is just so cute! So are you, duh.

My middle name is Kimberly, after my cousin. I'm neutral on it. My little sister's is Kellee and my dad's is Lee so her middle name is a combination of mine and my dad's

  13. Shannon says

    March 12, 2013 at 2:41 pm

I'm Shannon Leigh – with no significance to the middle name. Womp Womp.

Up until the moment my mom saw me, I was going to be Amy Leigh, but once she saw me, she decided I looked like a Shannon.

    I'm good with that, I suppose! 🙂

My middle name is/was Elizabeth, and that name comes from my mom's youngest sister. I was sad to trade it in for my maiden name though!

My middle name is Marie. It's my mom's middle name and part of my Grandma's name, so it's pretty special to me. If I have a daughter some day, I want to pass down the middle name of Marie!

My middle name is Camille which is also my Mom's middle name. And when/if I ever have a girl, that will be her middle name too.
My son (due in 5 weeks), his middle name is Glenn. Which is my husband's middle name and he was named after his Uncle who passed away when my MIL was in High School.

My middle name is Danielle, which mother loved and wanted to be my first name. She wanted to call me Dani, and I wish she had, there are WAY too many Ashleys.

Our son's middle name is Graham, honestly, just because we liked it. And I made a deal with my husband that he gets to pick our children's middle names and I pick the first names, no questions asked. Plus, it really goes well with Whitman.

My middle name is Joan, which is my grandmother and my aunt's first name. I despised it growing up because I thought it sounded old and didn't really understand the significance of being named for family. I called my grandmother Gramma and my aunt goes by Jody, so it didn't feel like a family name. Now I'm fine with it.

Blaire's middle name is Harper, which ended up being far trendier than I'd hoped. I've always loved the name because of Harper Lee, author of my favorite book. (Harper is actually her middle name as well. Her first name is Nelle.) My original plan was to give Blaire my sister's name as a middle name but her first name starts with J and everyone insisted it was not a good idea to give my daughter those initials.

My middle name is Patricia, named after my grandmother. She was called Patsy by all her friends and family, so my mom and everyone thought that was her first name, only to find out after naming me that Elizabeth was her first name and Patricia was her middle name.

I was looking of pics of Jon & Hudson trying to find some feature like Jon's. So I loved the pic of you as a baby. The best I come up with maybe Hudson's eye color will be like Jon's & maybe he has his dad's ears. I never see yours as your hair covers your ears. That is what I did this morning when I was missing that cute son of yours.
I know this has nothing to do with middle names.

My middle name is Paige, which I have always loved because it is classic, but was different from all the Lynn, Marie, and Elizabeth middle names everyone else had growing up. My fiance goes by his middle name, which is his mom's maiden name. I'd like to continue that, but I'm not sure of "Smith" would go over well as a first name.

I have to say I love when people use family last names as middle names for their babes. Its the cutest thing ever.
Ok so back to me … LOL … I had no idea it was middle name pride either so I'll join in now. My middle name isnt anything I was ever proud of in fact I hate it when I was younger because it wasn't American. My mom is from Croatia and my dad is from Indiana and she won on the middle name card. I always had to spell it for people. Or correct them when they'd butcher the pronunciation. Haha! My middle name is "Vedrana". It means "cheerful and sunny" which is actually spot on for my personality. 🙂 Now I wear my middle name with pride because it is different and I like that.

My middle name is Lea (prounounced like Lee). My parents couldn't decide how to spell it…my mom wanted Lee (my dad said that was a boy's name) and my dad wanted Leigh (my mom didn't like that) so they decided to spell it Lea. I love it and kept it when I changed my name. My daughter's middle name is Ann, which is my mother-in-law's name.
