Love it…Keep it: Personalized Pumpkin

I LOVE pumpkins. Love everything about them…except carving them. The mess. The carving knives. Trying to get it perfect…no thank you.
So this year I decided to avoid all of that and do something much simpler….paint my pumpkin! The whole process only took about 20 minutes and I was thrilled with the results. I decided to paint our pumpkin with an “R” for our last name.

First I  printed out an “R” on computer paper. I used Times New Roman size 600-800ish. I can’t remember exactly. Then I cut out my stencil and taped it on to the pumpkin.

I traced around the stencil with a pen. I tried using pencil but it was too hard to see. If you make a mistake with the pen you can just wipe it off really quickly with a damp paper towel.

Then I took a small paint brush and some random black paint I had in my junk drawer and went to work. It was really easy and only needed one coat.

And there you have it, a personalized pumpkin! I’ve already received numerous compliments from neighbors and friends…definitely will be doing this again next year!

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
