Let it Go

I finally got a chance to see Frozen….and let me just say….it was AMAZING. I was singing “Let it Go” before I even saw the film…and now it’s on my brain all the time.
It’s such a good message for not only little girls but big girls like me too. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about accepting who you are and loving your family fiercely.
I’m making “Let it Go” is my theme song for 2014 and embracing who I am and what makes me special…..and I’m letting go of……..

– Trying to be the perfect mother and wife. I talk about perfection a lot on this blog….my boys don’t want perfection from me, they just want me. Done deal!
– Worrying what people think of me. Over it.
– Trying to be the perfect blogger. Every photo on your blog is perfect? You kid is always perfect? You made and perfectly photographed your grandma’s super special recipe of red velvet cheesecake s’mores pancakes? Good for you. That’s not real life.
– Trying to do it all. Enough said.
– Worrying about having a clean house. It’s just not going to happen for the next several years.

– Pain and hurt from the past.

Want to join me? What are you letting go of this year?

Love this, Julie! What a good theme for 2014! I love the song and am thinking of taking Scarlett to see it! Haha, I know she won't know what is going on, but mommy and daddy wanna see it, too 🙂
Glad to hear you loved it!

I think it's time to focus on the good in your life instead of this perfection thing you keep coming back to! Totes times to be happy! Love you!

Loved this and LOVED the movie too! I can't wait for it to come out on video… Or DVD or whatever they call it nowadays- ha. It was such a great movie! I also liked how a prince didn't need to come resuce them, family was the important thing, sisterly love.

Great motto for this year! Xo

YES x100! I have a goal of letting go of SOMETHING every day. Life is far from perfect and that's OK because it's wonderful. But I don't know what you're talking about, because I LOVE to make my grandma's red velvet cheesecake s'mores pancakes. 😉

Great message!!! It is SO HARD to let it go sometimes, especially when you do see those "perfect" moms…I was just thinking that I need to STOP reading blogs because it makes me feel like I need to do and buy all this stuff, but I don't! I am a great mother, wife and teacher as I am (although I do love seeing other's ideas! I am addicted…haha!). I am going to stop and remember to let it go more often. THank you!!

You need the soundtrack – it's awesome.

I love Frozen! And it's a theme we use a lot in our house hold. With 2 little girls, I loved that it centered around sisters saving each other instead of a prince coming in to rescue. Thay family and love saved the day because the girls excepted each other completely. I believe there is no truer love than family. And letting go of being perfect is a wonderful idea.

This is great! I agree with all the things you're letting go of and I need to do the same in my life! I'm right with you.

Happiness is perfection, right? So who cares about hair, laundry or fancy pictures! It is so much easier to just live and love — forget the rest! xoxo

Yes! So over the perfectly staged photos on IG as if that's peoples real life. We feel the need to compete and "keep up with the (insert fabulous bloggers here)" time we just K.I.S.S. Life is better lived without the stress of perfection…

Still haven't seen Frozen, but I love your post. We have the soundtrack and I think about all the things I need to let go every time I hear the song- my own insecurities, scars from the past that sometimes still hurt, or just being too hard on myself for not being the perfect wife/mom/runner/etc. I hope we can both "let go" in 2014 🙂

I loved this post! Letting go is so hard! This year I'm going to learn to let go of what I can not change or control! In the meantime I will go watch Frozen and buy the soundtrack. I've heard it is wonderful from so many people, my own kids included! They saw it with their grandparents over winter break.

I loved Frozen and I especially loved that the true loved was within the sisters. A pretty powerful message right there!

I literally sing this song at least 5x a day. Loved the movie, the song, the message- everything! I'm getting better at letting little things go too, but its definitely always a work in progress!

Perfection is totally overrated! You have so many great things – good marriage, a home, a good and flexible job, an amazing blog – you don't need perfection! Oh and no one wants to clean anyway there are way more fun things to do! Like push your kiddo around the house in his car 🙂

Well said! That's such a great motto to live by this year. There are so many things I just need to let go of too. I need to remember this next time I'm having a panic attack because my house is a wreck, I haven't showered in 2 days and my kid is still wearing yesterday's pajamas. LET IT GO…

I am SO with you on this! I haven't seen Frozen (though I really want to) but I love the idea of letting go. In fact, I love every single point you've made about letting go. Especially on the points about the clean house and the blog – reading real blogs is so much more fun, in my opinion, than reading blogs written by bloggers trying way too hard to be perfect. Perfect is no fun!!! Thanks for sharing this today, Julie:)

"Good for you. That's not real life" is the best line from this post… I literally laughed out loud as it is EXACTLY what God has been speaking to me over and over the past year and even more since I have started this new blogging adventure. Thank you. And I loved Frozen too 🙂 🙂

Thanks for this!!! I think it's so easy to forget. I know I look at other bloggers like yourself and think how they have seem to have it all together all the time. I certainly need to let go of many of these same things.
