Forget my four years of college and two years of graduate school. Nothing I learned there prepared me for what I do on a daily basis….communicate with a tiny little BOY all day long.
Here is where my education is lacking:
Cars, trucks, and tractors. That’s about all I know…but that isn’t going to cut it for much longer. Hudson is already obsessed with anything with wheels (or propellers) and soon enough he is going to know SO much more than me about all things truck. Dump truck, front loader, bulldozer, excavator…say what?
Forget all you learned about please and thank you. Key words in our house are (in order of importance): basketball, boots, PUPPY, airplane, outside, and fruit snacks. If you know those six words you are golden.
And all that stuff you learned about matching your shoes to your purse? Totally doesn’t matter. Tractor rain boots and camo GO WITH EVERYTHING.
You better learn your tools. A full on tool obsession has broken out in our house. Thank you Green Toys for labeling each tool and making it a little easier on me. I always forget which screwdriver is the Phillips one. Now I know. Now if only the makers of real tools were that smart.
You better know your animals….mammals, reptiles, dinosaurs…you name it. Thanks to this book I now know baby whales are called calfs.
Sports. Period. I need to learn more about them. Baseball, basketball, football….you name it. And apparently Easter egg ball is a new up and coming sport. I better hit the books and get some practice time in asap.
I wouldn’t trade learning this new language for the world. If it means I get to talk to that cute face every day then sign me up!
Oh, he's so cute! Speaking BOY is so fun!!!! I wouldn't want to speak any other language 🙂
I can 100% relate! I'm slowly improving on correctly naming different construction vehicles. I'm also still trying to dress Liam myself but he is really starting to care about what he puts on. I love this age!
I speak boy (in the truck department) thanks to a truck app that we have that teaches you all the parts of all construction vehicles.
You just need to study more!
This post is adorable. My Mimi always tells me there is no way I am going to have anything but little boys since I am so girly so if her predictions are right, I will be learning to speak this language too one day :)!
Haha, this is SO true!! I'm learning the boy language too, growing up with a bunch of girls definitely didn't prepare me for having a BOY!
Too cute! I'm not sure what it would be like to have a boy but that gives me an idea. 🙂
Haha, I love this post. He sure has lots of cars. So adorable!
Haha, loved this post! As a current mommy-to-be to a little boy and a current mommy to a little girl, I have NO IDEA how to raise a boy! This gave me a lot of insight, and I'm sure it will come natural, just as it did with her!
I love this post! Technically there's no "language" going on over here yet, but once there is I'm gonna have to pick up some sports lingo and car lingo pretty fast! When I was young I always imagined myself having girls, but now that I have a boy I can't imagine it any other way 🙂
The Joni Journey
OMG! Too funny! 🙂 This is a glimpse into my future, FOR SURE!
OMG! Too funny! 🙂 This is a glimpse into my future, FOR SURE!
I'm a total novice in "boy language", but I'm learning more and more each day. I caught on real quick to the names of "worker trucks" though, and I really had no choice!
Yes yes and yes. I can SO relate. We are SO into sports and vehicles right now too. Golf and basketball and the big ones, but Mac's getting lots of baseball stuff for Easter, so that'll be next. And oy, the tractors!
I am learning boy language as well! It's so funny – Caleb is not even one yet, and he he still seems to gravitate toward all the 'boy' stuff. Cars, trains, airplanes, trucks…He loves it ALL! He started making a little car noise when he was just 6 months old. It was pretty much the cutest thing ever. So looking at this post about Hudson gives me a great idea of what my life will look like when Caleb is a bit older!:) You are a great boy mom, Julie:)
oh my goodness – i adore his outfits!!
Adorable!
Love this! Such a fun post! That toolbox is awesome – I might need to get that for Callie. She's starting to out grow the little tool bench she has. I feel like I need to learn about boy and girl because one minute Callie is talking about princesses the next she's in the mud!
oh, yes I can so relate AND it sure is the best! Love it all! Owen and Hudson sure would make a perfect team! 🙂
You are such a fun mom, Julie! I have three girls and had my first son almost three months ago (eek!! Flying by!). He's already very different from my ladies…and it's so cool! I'm definitely excited to learn the world of little boys. 🙂
Have a blessed Easter!
PS – I'm a redhead too. 🙂 No one can work blue, black and green as well haha!
Super… 🙂
Love the Green Toys! We just got some in our Citrus Lane box. But only the screw drivers and some nuts and bolts. Oh and the saw. Did you get yours in your box? Or online?
I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
