Learning to Love the Mess

 photo IMG_7930.jpg

I’m going to be real for a minute. Everything posted to Instagram is not always real life. I try to keep it honest as much as I can….but even I clean up the mess or (more often) push it aside and only capture the pretty. In reality, my house is a mess most of the time. And so are my kids. It can take me an entire day to just straighten up one room. I start on a task and get interrupted by tiny humans 1,243 times. And then one of them decides to dump their brother’s pokemon cards ALL OVER THE KITCHEN for the 5th time that day and I throw in the towel.

I’ll show you what my kitchen looks like right now.

That’s it. Unedited. Real life. If anything, having three kids is teaching me how to embrace the mess. It won’t always be like this. One day my kitchen will be spotless….and I’ll miss the little sticky handprints on my refrigerator, the toy cars on the floor, and the art projects on the counter. I did clean up after this photo (it took me all day!) because when my house looks like this it directly effects my mood. But I’m trying to let it slide and not stress about it. It’s easier said then done. But my kids are only little once.

I’d rather spend my time and energy capturing those sweet first smiles than worrying about the mess.

Can you blame me? Look at that sweet face.

When it comes to diapers, I let Huggies hug that mess! Huggies have been our go-to diapers for all three of my kids. It’s a brand I trust and can stand behind. With Huggies, I don’t have to worry about the mess with their Snug & Dry diapers and One & Done Refreshing wipes. (And you all know how I LOVE my Huggies wipes!).

Thanks for keeping it real! I can barely keep my house clean for 5 seconds. With 4 kids running around, it's an impossible task!

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
