No, I’m not tired. Said by no mother ever.
Hudson is the best sleeper ever and just loves to sleep all night in his bed. I’m just going to write it here because if I do, it will come true right?
But in real life he alters between “I not tired mama! I awake! See?” and “Cuddle me mama! I just want to CUDDLE YOU!!!!”
ALL. NIGHT. LONG.
He’s a stinker and he knows I can’t resist a good cuddle session.
Sleeping with a toddler is like sleeping with a drunk ninja. Am I right?
Any tips for getting a three year old to sleep all night in their bed? We’ve tried the “okay to wake” clock and rewards but nothing is working.
Oh man! Dominick goes through spurts like that. Before Dom was potty trained I would put a childproof lock on his door and he stopped getting out of bed and would just sleep. Once he became potty trained we took it off and it was habit for him to sleep through the night. Good luck, girl!
1. I need this shirt for Lilly. I am not tired is like her anthem! 2. I am all ear about the toddler sleep situation too, though I am glad to read it's not just us!!! Lilly always wants to cuddle and those tears while asking to cuddle KILL ME. How can I say no?! But I need my sleep too…I have been a zombie at work the past few weeks and that's not exactly good for production!
Ha, same thing going on in our house. Liam only sleeps through the night maybe half the time! No advice. I just embrace it and one that one day I will surely miss his midnight snuggles. Now the baby on the other hand, that sleep is terrible. I would really like just one decent stretch of sleep.
When you figure it out let me know! Aria doesn't come in our bed, but she just is up all night for fun. At least she stays in her bed though, silver lining.
Yes! Drunk ninja is exactly what it's like! I'm okay with Sofia coming in and cuddling but when she sleeps it's transfer beds time. That's how wild she sleeps. I only tolerate her sleeping with us when she has been truly terrified by a nightmare or is sick.
Oh man, I have no advice as we are going through the same thing! My little guy never slept through the night until around 18-20 months. He did well for a few months and then for the last month decided he's done sleeping and only our bed will do. I love the snuggles but the waking up and being kicked/hit all night is rough. We finally decided to take the front of his crib off and put a toddler rail up to see if that would help him enjoy his own bed more. Me and all my 35 weeks pregnant glory slept on his floor a few nights to keep him in there and now we've gone 3 nights in a row of him sleeping through the night in his own bed, alone, with no "mommy!!!" Or "help me!!" Coming from his room 🙂 it may be a 3 night fluke, but I'll take it where I can get it 🙂 good luck mama!
It must be something in the water. I just posted about sleeping woes today, too. LOL. If you find out the secret, let me know!
How cute is he in his sunglasses?! Adorable. And that shirt is the anthem of Mason’s life. The boy never stops. I’m just thankful he does sleep well when he finally gets there. We started putting some lavender oil on Mason’s pillow and that did wonders for keeping him in his own room all night! And then we built him a sort of “fort” around his bed and he loves that. I think it makes him feel safer! I hope you find what works for you soon.
Ahh I could have written this post.. Except not with my toddler but my almost 6 month old. Homeboy hates to nap but I know he's tired. At least this mama is tired!! I'm no help except for to say I'm in the same boat and hopefully these phases will pass and we will all be back to sleeping soundly… When they are in college!
Drunk ninja…that's awesome!! I've honestly only slept in the same bed with Cam a few times (minus him sleeping on my chest when he was teeny) and it was awful. I just can't do it. My husband can't either. He has had the same issue if he's ever slept with him. We have been lucky so far and our children are happiest in their beds. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Soooo…that doesn't help you at all. 🙁 I've seen where people have tried putting pillows or creating some sort of fun way to sleep (in a teepee, etc). Maybe that would work??
Is he still napping? I found my first dropped the waking up when she stopped napping. However, it might have been the move and that he is still adjusting!
We turned the knob on our son's door around so we could lock it from the outside. Just make sure you have a key or wire hanger in there so you can get out if you happen to get locked in. ha. Mean? Maybe. But he sleeps great! Good luck!
We were lock flippers too. I figure the crib locked them in until they could get out anyway, right?? We haven't had to lock it in ages, but it worked.
My 4 year old still comes in my room every night. I think he's made it until 5 AM maybe twice, but I'm not seeing that change anytime soon. My 14 year old used to come in every night, too, and it does eventually stop. I'm just hoping I can make it until I can sleep ALL NIGHT LONG.
No advice… We cosleep. Thankfully Noah is not a ninja sleeper or else we'd have a problem!!!
we put a noise machine in my sons room and that seemed to really help. we do let him take the phone or ipad into bed with him too. if he comes back into our bed I will carry him back to his bed when he is asleep and he never comes back to our room. My son is 3.5 and started sleeping in his room when he was 3, before then he was always in our bed.
We had this issue with k! And then got a her a doc a tot and she's been the happiest sleeper since! He might be too big? Lex climbs into k's and looks pretty cozy– it might be worth a shot??
We co-slept with our toddler when she was a baby because she hated her crib, and well now that's she's 3 she will come to our bed every single night when she wakes up. I think she only slept in her bed once all night. I've heard of locking the door, however I'm not sure we can do that haha. I started reading books to her about staying in her bed all night, so far nothing. And drunk ninja – yep! perfect description.
I have no advice b/c Abbie has slept through the night since we sleep trained her at 8 months…. but sending you lots of luck!!! I hope he gives you a break soon!
Trust in the clock!! Seriously, the OK to wake clock is the most amazing toddler product I've ever purchased, but you have to be really consistent with it. If you say they can't get up until the clock is green (other than potty) you really have to mean it. That goes for cuddles too. Our lives seem to revolve around that clock, but I really think it's awesome. Give it another go!
