If you give a girl some beadboard……

For awhile there, I didn’t think I’d ever see this day. My kitchen makeover is finished!!!!
Photobucket
I. Love. it.
Let me give you a little reminder of what it used to look like…..
Photobucket
Absolutely nothing wrong with it….but it just wasn’t “us”.

Photobucket
The first step was putting beadboard on the island. It was my birthday present from my mom and husband…you can read about the process here.
If you give a girl some beadboard, she’s gonna want to paint it…..

Photobucket
So we had the cabinets painted white. I’ve wanted the cabinets white since the moment I stepped in to the kitchen. We hired someone to do it (I was 9 months pregnant after all) and it was totally worth it. I blogged about that here.
We could have just stopped there. But if you give a girl white cabinets, she’s gonna want some granite counter tops.
Thankfully, my husband is amazing and agreed we should go for it!
I blogged about getting the granite installed here. But do you see the gap where the back splash and granite don’t meet?
Well….if you give a girl some granite, she’s gonna want a new back splash.

Photobucket

Bam! Beadboard back splash for the win.

Photobucket
My husband and my mom installed it themselves. And it is awesome.

Photobucket
Love love love.

Photobucket
It took them a while to finish it….turns out when you have a baby every other project you have comes to a standstill.

Photobucket
My kitchen has been torn down and put back together more times than I can count….but it was worth it!

Photobucket
But….if you give a girl a beadboad back splash, she’s gonna want to paint the kitchen.
Shhhhh….don’t tell my husband that’s next!

Love it! I would have never thought of a beadboard backsplash, but it looks great! That's how kitchens are though, one improvement always leads to another!!! We are debating redoing ours!

haha it looks amazing girl! We put beadboard up in our kitchen too on our part that faces the family room and we couldn't believe how such a small touch made it look so much better! Big fan of beadboard 🙂

Love the breadboard backsplash. I may have to use that in our house. Our kitchen has brown glass tile as a backsplash and I hate how dark it is. I would agree that having a baby makes projects move waaaay slower. We moved into our house when our little one was 5 months
and it takes forever to get the littlest project done. On the plus side it makes you appreciate the little thins so much more!

Your kitchen looks fantastic. I really thought all the decorative accessories above the cabinets and the window treatment were new before I saw the old photo. It really makes all your black, white and red accent colors pop.

Love your new kitchen! We did some major rennos in ours but still have light oak cabinets. Would love to give it a major lift at some point but with baby one the way money is tight. We did knock down a wall though over xmas holidays and it has opened our home majorly. Love the white and your new counters. Amaze-fest!
