Happy 2 Months Hudson!

Height and Weight: At his doctor appointment last week Hudson weighed 13 pounds 14 ounces and was 22 and a half inches tall! HOLY COW! Our not so little guy has almost doubled his birth weight and grown two and a half inches. He was in the 85% for weight and 25% for height….which just confuses his tall mommy and daddy! Our pediatrician assured us this does not mean he will grow up to be short and stocky. Ha!
Health: We’ve got a healthy little guy and are so thankful!

Sleep: Hudson is starting to sleep longer stretches finally! I feel like a completely different person now that we are all sleeping a little better. He sleeps anywhere from 5 to 8 hours in a row at night. Then wakes up for a feeding and goes back to sleep for 2 and a half to 4 and a half hours. We moved his bedtime up to 7pm and all of a sudden he started sleeping better. I think he was just overly tired. We also started swaddling him with his arms in and put an old ipod with white noise in his room. We had been using the sleep sheep, which we love, but it turns off after 45 minutes. With two cats and a dog making a ton of noise at night it helps to have white noise playing all night long.
Diet: No, I’m not feeding him cheeseburgers! He is still eating 100% breast milk. I’m so thankful that breastfeeding has been easy and that Hudson eats like a champ.

Clothes: Still rocking the 3 month clothing and wearing size 2 diapers.

Baby Gear Love: Hudson loves his stroller and usually falls asleep when we go for walks. He also loves his bouncy seat now that I’ve hung bright toys from the top.

Crying: Hudson
cries when he is tired, hungry, or gassy. He’s a lot less fussy than he was a few weeks ago, and I’m so grateful! Things started to get better around 8 weeks old.
Daddy is still the best at swaddling him and calming him down.

Likes: Eating! And he still loves his bath. He also likes looking at himself, mommy, and daddy.

Postpartum: I still have a few pregnancy pounds to loose…it’s hard because I’m hungry all the time! But otherwise I’m feeling mostly like old self again, only with a small belly now!

Social: Hudson went to Detroit for his first overnight visit and Halloween party! He got to play with his best buddy Logan and dress up as the cowardly lion.
We also had a nice visit with two of my aunts from California. They helped take care of Hudson and cooked for us. It was such a treat and so nice to have extra mommies on hand!

Hudson went with me to vote in the 2012 election! Everyone in line loved him and couldn’t get enough of his sweet chubby cheeks. We were very popular!

Milestones: Hudson started smiling at around 7 weeks and it is just about the cutest thing we’ve ever seen. He’s also making better eye contact and babbling.

We just love our little man!

Hudson is just the cutest! He is getting so big so fast! I can't believe he is 8 weeks old. You look great, Julie! I remember the fussy baby hold your husband is doing in that photo. You are doing a great job. The white noise all night long made the biggest difference for us too, except I didn't figure it out for a while.

He is just the cutest!! We had a rough start too and things started getting better around 8 weeks as well. I didn't believe people when they said that to us, but it's true! And aren't baby smiles just the absolute best? Makes my whole day!!

He is just adorable Julie! So so happy for you! Avery is the same with the white noise, we use an app with white noise when she naps but the Graco sound machine is great for night time because it plugs in, plays white noise and stays on all night. Avery was just 10lbs at 10 weeks but she's been packing on the pounds since and her rolls are forming, I love it!

He is just too cute for words. When he gets stronger 🙂 you might want to get the swaddles with velcro. We had to switch Kipper out of his aden/anais swaddles and into the velcro kind because he could break out of the swaddle and started waking himself up.

#ad It’s that time of year! Time to make sure yo #ad It’s that time of year! Time to make sure your child is up to date on their well-child visits and vaccines! As the chief advocate for my kids, I always want to make decisions that are the best for them and for our family. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for these little loves of mine, and I know all of you can relate! That is why I vaccinate my kids. Vaccinating your child is one of the safest and most effective things you can do to protect them against serious preventable diseases. If you live in Michigan like we do, it’s time to schedule that well-child visit and make sure your kids are up to date on their vaccinations! I’ve done a lot of research and talked to our pediatrician at length about what is best for my family and I would encourage you to do so too. It’s normal to have questions—it makes you a good parent! But make sure you are getting answers from credible sources. Remember, vaccines are safe, effective, and help protect everyone. Ultimately I decided to vaccinate my children because not doing so puts them at risk of contracting a potentially deadly disease. I want the best for my kids.
