Today I’m answering some of the questions I frequently receive from all of you. If there is anything else you want to know, please leave your question in the comments!
Q: Where is Hudson’s bunk bed from? Would you recommend it?
A: Here is the link to our bunk bed, and this is the mattress we bought for the bottom (we already had a twin for the top). And yes, we LOVE it! You can read all about how bunk beds dramatically changed our bedtime routine here. Moving Hudson and Sadie in together was the best decision we made in 2018. Hands down! And I love that the bunk bed is a twin over full, so that Hudson can get in bed with Sadie if he ever gets scared. Plus, I can stand on the full bed whenever I need to make Hudson’s bed, change it etc. Such a great unexpected bonus. And the bedding we have can be found here. I’m OBSESSED with it.
Q: Any update on Hudson and Sadie sleeping in the same room? How is it going?
A: It’s been a few months and I am so happy to report that it’s still going so great! Hudson and Sadie love sleeping in the same room. They’ve learned to not wake each other up, go to bed fairly easily, and they just genuinely enjoy being together. I’ve started to let them have a few minutes to read in their beds quietly before lights out. Often Hudson will get in bed with Sadie to “read” to her and it is the cutest thing ever. We did have an issue when Sadie was sick during Christmas, however. I kept Sadie in bed with me and Hudson refused to sleep in his room alone. So, there’s that. But otherwise it’s gone so great.
Q: How do you clean your house? Do you have a house cleaner?
A: I try and clean something small every single day. And no, I do not currently have a house cleaner. I did when I worked full time out of the home, and it was amazing….but now that I’m home with the kids, I try and do it myself. But honestly my house is very rarely spotless. But it’s usually mostly clean. Cleanish. Things I do every day: wipe down the kitchen counters and sink and stove, run our roomba vacuum, one load of laundry (and put away). I try and do the dishes every night so that my kitchen is clean when we wake up in the morning. And we usually have the kids do a quick clean up of toys before bedtime…but not always. One night a week I’ll clean our master bathroom while the big kids take a shower. It only takes me a few minutes…and then I’ll clean the shower while I’m in it showering. I try and tackle one extra cleaning “job” per day….usually it’s something I can do in 20 minutes or less. I also pay Hudson $1 to do small jobs for me like dust our baseboards, vacuum the dining room and living room, sweep, or clean the windows and glass sliding door. Sadie and Belle follow him around “dusting” too, and it’s pretty cute.
Q: How do you take such cute photos of your kids? How do you get all three of your kids in a photo?
A: First of all, every time I get this question I can’t help but smile. You all make me feel so good. Thank you! I love that you love photos of my kids. Really, it means SO much to me that you enjoy them! I wrote a post on my process that you can read here. But if you look at my photos, you’ll notice that my kids are rarely smiling and posing for the camera. They are often hugging each other, tickling one another, kissing, laughing, or being silly. When I ask them to stand and pose, and say “cheese” for me, those photos never look like my kids. They aren’t natural. When I ask them to tell the other a secret or a joke, or sing the baby shark song, I get genuine smiles and giggles. And that’s the best. I’m also not above a little bribery. I’ll bribe them with a treat or, in some cases if I really need some photos for a sponsored blog post, some money. The money really only works on Hudson and he charges me $2. I also pay my kids a modeling fee. Whenever I need them for photos for my job as a blogger, I pay them a modeling fee (that goes straight in to a savings account for them that they’ll use for college). They have no idea I do that though!
Q: Where are those cute heart pjs from?
A: They are from Primary! I’m OBSESSED with them! They are a limited edition, so act fast!
Q: What do you use to edit your photos?
A: I use lightroom! And the presets by Jessica Kettle.
Q: What shows are you loving right now?
A: Oh I love this question! We don’t have cable, so what I watch has changed a bit. Right now I’m loving Outlander (on Starz via Amazon), A Million Little Things, Superstore and The Goldbergs (Jon and I love to watch these together!), and Grey’s Anatomy (I just can’t quit it!). Oh, and This is Us, of course. I also really enjoyed You (Netflix) even though it kind of creeped me out. And I loved Downton Abbey, The Crown, and Riverdale. I’ve tried to watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel but just can’t seem to get in to it.
Q: Are you going to do less sponsored posts and more “real” posts?
A: Yes! And thanks for calling me out! Being a blogger is strange. And honestly, it’s been really hard to adjust to having three kids + staying home + blogging. Finding time to work on my blog is really difficult, and I often get in a rut of only making time for the sponsored posts. But I’m trying to do better this year, and I hope you are taking notice! Thank you SO much for still supporting me, even when my post is sponsored. I try REALLY hard to still make those posts authentic, entertaining to read, and valuable. I only work with sponsors and promote products I truly trust and can stand behind.

Hey Julie, just to let you know—even though sponsored posts can get a little overloaded on any blog, I have thought for a long time that you do a great job of keeping yours readable by including stories or personal background. I imagine that can be hard to do, but as a reader I appreciate it and as a result try to use your links when buying kid stuff. 🙂
Zero thanks for you to talking about those primary heart PJs. They’re so cute! 😍😍
Our modeling fees are paid in the form of 12 gummy bears over here 😆😆😆. Love this!
