Foot in your mouth

Hudson got sent home from daycare on Monday with foot-in-your-mouth hand, foot, and mouth disease. Hoof and mouth? Foot on your face? We call it something different every time. Basically it’s something that lives in daycares and schools. It causes a sore throat and a rash…and it’s no fun. We’ve been lucky enough to have a pretty mild case…..and Hudson (knock on wood) is back to feeling better and sleeping through the night! Oh how quickly I forgot what it was like to be up at 1 or 2 in the morning with a baby. How did I do it for SO many months? It’s exhausting!

Because of us, the daycare had to send out a mass email letting all the parents know their kid had been exposed. And they had to disinfect everything. Yep. We are those parents who sent their kid to daycare not knowing he was really sick. I bet they hate us. But to be fair, I’m pretty sure Hudson got this from someone at daycare….so it’s been a fun few days around these parts!

At least we’ve had a good reason to stay in our jammies all day and play with toys!

Julie!!! OMG…my niece just had that for the first time and she didnt even get it from her daycare. I'd never heard of it before until last week. Crazy!!! She had it bad though – nothing on the hands or feet, but sores in the mouth. yuck! I hope Hudson is feeling better! Don't you hate being those parents; we've all been there – haha!

We had a scare a whlie back after another baby at daycare had hand foot and mouth. Thankfully our boy did not have it. Sending happy healing thoughts your way!

My daughter had it twice when she was around a year old! She wasn't even in daycare at the time. Dr. said you can get it from shopping carts (now I'm always the one wiping them down!) and swings at the park. Must have been where she got it from! No fun. Glad he's feeling better! Hope you don't get it too. I got a mild form of it after taking care of her!

I'm glad your germ and rash free now! How do they name these things? Hoof and mouth! Can't they name it something glamorous to take the sting out of getting it?

Ugh I am so sorry. I'm sure the people at daycare understand. You are not the first, nor will you be the last parent who accidentally sends their child with an illness. It happens. Don't feel bad!

It must be that time of year! I've heard of 2 or 3 other cases of it just in the past few weeks. Glad he's feeling better!!

We had something similar to hand, foot, and mouth disease two months ago. It's certainly not fun! I'm glad Hudson is feeling better and I'm sure the people at daycare understand!

Poor little Hudson:( Hoping he feels better soon. I'm sure the days of germs from daycare will be upon us soon. My little man can't crawl or walk yet, so that keeps him from being too interactive with the other babies and toys, but it won't be long…

Cam had it, too, and so did everyone at his day care! It's so hard not knowing where it came from. I am glad he's back to almost-normal!

Ugh. The worst. My daughter had that a few months ago. No bueno. Glad it's a mild case, but it's still no fun!

First of all, Hudson in a sweater, leggings and moccs = perfection! Love those chubby little legs!! Secondly, Arden had HFM back in August…and she gave it to my husband! Gross! It's just so crazy because you don't even know they have it until they're not contagious anymore. Glad you got a day in your pjs out of it though! 🙂

Ha! Hoof and Mouth disease sounds about right. 🙂 Sorry your little guy is sick! A friend of mine got this from her son after being in the church nursery. I guess it's rare that adults get it but she was one of the few. Hope you all feel better soon! -Andrea

It is a rough sickness. Max got it from his cousin and it was BAD. He was down and out for a long time. His poor mouth had sores and he couldn't/wouldn't eat/drink a lot at a time.

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
