A Dilemma….

Remember when I posted about the hanging baskets I made for our front porch? Well, it seems that a certain feathered friend loved my work so much that she decided to make one of them her home.

Look closely, do you see her?
June '10_7133
I totally spooked her with my camera (by accident!). Oops. But look! A nest! And two eggs!
So now my flowers will probably die. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am honored that Mrs. Bird chose my flowers as the perfect spot to raise her babies, but her choice in residence really hampers my desire for pretty (and alive) plants.
I have been somewhat successful with watering the edges of the basket while trying not to spook her again. And now, believe it or not, I think she knows I mean no harm. I just want my flowers to live! So for now she lets me water them, as long as I don’t get too close to her little nest.
Anyone else excited for baby birdies? I know I am!

It's exciting, but I'll go ahead and warn you, it's going to create a big mess under the basket! My parents have a Mrs. Bird who comes back annually for babies, and there is always a massive, concrete mess under there… so just something to keep in mind. 😉

What a clever momma! Those eggs look pretty big for such a little bird. Imagine the fun Henry and Pancake will have watching the babies!

My parents get doves in theirs all the time. Yeah, kind of a big mess but the flowers stay alive!

OMG I would die. That thing scares the CRAP out of me. Momma birds are MEAN!

I would dump the whole thing. Seriously, I'm so afraid of birds.

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
