I grew up always waking up in my own bed Christmas morning…and then quickly running down the stairs to tear open my presents. So starting the same tradition of staying home for Christmas with Hudson was something that was really important to me. Thankfully, our family goes along and all travels over to our house for the day!
I couldn’t sleep on Christmas Eve because I was so dang excited for Hudson to wake up and open his presents. I haven’t been this excited about Christmas since I was a kid…something about watching your own child’s eyes light up when they come down the stairs is magical.
And Hudson’s reaction didn’t disappoint. He was shocked and excited to see all the presents under the tree. And it was basically the best day ever. Except my husband and I were ready to toss that choo-choo train out the window about 10 minutes in to the gift un-wrapping. Note to self: 2 year olds are not ready for battery powered trains. Between Hudson and Wrigley, that train was knocked over more times than I can count.
Hudson loved all of his toys and couldn’t stop saying “Hudsey open presents!!!!” to anyone who would listen. He’s the best.
Later in the afternoon everyone came back over to our house for more presents and Christmas dinner. Hudson had so much fun “helping” everyone open their gifts.
One of my favorite gifts….my farmhouse table! I promise an entire post dedicated to it…because it’s that amazing.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Love that you all had a very Merry Christmas at home! And totally agree with you on the whole train thing. We did a wooden train set, and I'm sure it was just as bad as the battery one – Caleb kept stepping on the train tracks (which snap together like puzzle pieces) and then getting frustrated when they came apart, lol. He loves it, so Daddy and I just have to deal with it!
Aww Hudson looks so cute in his costume!! Glad y'all had a great Christmas!!
Such a fun and perfect Christmas!! I love Hudson and I love that new table!! SO perfect!
Sounds like the perfect morning! We're pretty set on having Christmas morning from our house every morning from here on out as well. It's just hard to cut the cord!!! 😉
Sounds like the perfect Christmas! We always have Christmas morning at my husband's mom's house and to say that it is a bit hectic to go there in the morning, open presents, come back for a nap, and go back for dinner is an under statement. I would love to be able to start this tradition once we have a house one day 🙂
Looks like Christmas Bliss to me. I love being able to stay home and Christmas day and just let the littles enjoy Santa.

Hudson in that knight outfit is way too cute!
Loveeee your farmhouse table! I so want one in my next house!! Haha the chaos from the train with the dog and two year old made me laugh because that sounds exactly like what would have happened at our house! It really was magical this year, wasn't it?! 🙂
YAY for Christmas!! 🙂 Weston got a train set too! His is the wood track ones, so no electronic part – yet! HAHAHA
Love the knight outfit. Am sure you remember cousin John dressed as a Roman way back when Julie!
Looks like you all had a great Christmas!! Hudson is adorable!
Sounds like a wonderful day and I love that Hudson calls himself Hudsy. So cute! Can't wait to read more about your table. It's gorgeous!
Whoa. That table!!! And I love that Hudson calls himself Hudsey. That's adorable. Merry Christmas!
Beautiful table!! I'm so glad that "Hudsy" was such a good helper…Cam didn't even let people get in the door before handing them a gift and saying, "I open?" Haha!! BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!! I hope you are feeling ok!!
The table is gorgeous!!! Love the runner!
Beautiful table! I love the knight dress up costume! That's great that your family comes to you guys so he can open gifts at his own house!
Totally feel ya about waking up at home for Christmas. Both parents made comments about Christmas at their places in the future and I freaked out! Haha. Umm, how would Santa know?!
Funny about the train and love the table.
Your Instagram made me go on a search for that train even though Santa brought us a train table. Glad to hear it's not awesome though, so I'm not disappointed that we didn't see it under the tree!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Love that your cat got in on the holiday action 🙂
I'm so glad you had a wonderful Christmas with your sweet boy!
Hudson looks like he had an amazing Christmas!!
