We finally finished baby boy’s dresser!
We LOVE how it turned out! It’s actually a darker red in person.
The husband used this dresser before we were married. It originally belonged to his grandparents….so it’s old! We didn’t know if we could salvage it but thought it was worth a try! The husband sanded, painted, replaced the hardware, and added the numbers to it. The paint we used was Sherwin Williams Antique Red in their low VOC paint. The hardware is all from Lowe’s and the numbers are actually house numbers screwed into each drawer. The whole project cost about $40….not too bad!
I can’t wait to start putting baby boy’s clothes in it! And as you can see he already has some furry friends waiting for him. My mom bought us the kangaroo, the zebra is from Pier 1 (I just had to have it after seeing it on Natasha’s blog!) and the lion is from Erin and was actually the first baby gift we received. The football helmet was the husband’s when he was little!
And here is a sneak peek at our crib…filled with yet to be washed baby boy clothes and some toys of course!
I picked up these adorable numbered baskets at Home Goods….but still haven’t been able to find the #2 basket. If anyone sees it at Home Goods please let me know! I’ll pay you back plus shipping! Oh and the Sleep Sheep is so soft and was a gift from my friend Katie.
Another little sneak peek at some of the old toys that we hope to use as decorations. I can’t wait to start putting things together!
Oh my gosh, that dresser is so precious!! Love that it has such a great history!

I mean perfect!) and that's in a frame I also took pictures of my husbands old soap box cars (one was turquoise too) pictures are easier to lug around then actually things…I lo e the dresser! good job

That dresser is GREAT! I'm going to have to pin it – we've been looking for one to match but never even thought of painting it a bright color. I think that's what we will be doing now! You are just so dang crafty 🙂 The old toys are a great touch as well, I cannot wait to see it all finished.
Everything looks wonderful! I love all the sweet, personal touches like your husband's football helmet.
We have the same crib and have really liked it. I'm sure you will too. There will be a sweet baby boy in it before you know it!

Everything is looking SO CUTE! That dresser looks fantastic- and I seriously am in love with the fact you have your hubby's old football helmet. I'm praying my hubs has one of his old ones– lol, I want a vintage football nursery for a lil guy one day 😉
SOOOOOO cute! 🙂
The dresser is beautiful! It's so nice that you were able to take an old, sentimental piece of furniture and make it over for the baby's room. I can't wait to see the finished nursery! And I'll keep my eyes peeled for basket #2!
So so SOOO cute!! I love that you are using a mixture of old and new. Makes it that more special!
We have 2 of the sleep giraffes (same thing, different animal) and that is one of the only things we have used since day one. First we did white noise for a long time, then some of the little jungle songs and now the waterfall. She falls asleep (no joke) stroking its mane:o) If you can pick up a second one, they make a "travel" version that we took to the sitter and on vacation.
Hey I was brought here by your beautiful cats, I love that little cutie Sophie. Keep posting up pics and good luck with everything!
I love love love this dresser. You both did a fabulous job!!!!
I'm certain that your nursery is going to be the cutest boy's nursery I've ever seen. That dresser is TOO cute.

Did you use a eggshell or semi-gloss for the paint? I love the color.
What finish in the paint did you use for the dresser? Flat/semi- gloss…etc?
