And….FAIL

For some reason every project we attempted this weekend failed. Big time.
Like this awesome light fixture I tried to install in our new bathroom.

The above photo is not my bathroom….although I wish it was. The galvanized light fixture, although really cool, is also small. Too small to cover up the giant holes in our walls thanks to our builder-boring light fixtures. Yes, I guess the holes could be patched….but I have no idea how to do that. FAIL. So I thought maybe the fixture could go in our downstairs bathroom instead. Sounds reasonable right?

After about 30 minutes I got the fixture up and it looked great. Ran down to the basement to turn the power back on to the bathroom and….FAIL. It turned on just fine but it was way too dark in our little windowless bathroom. Too dark to take a picture. Too dark to see yourself well in the mirror. Too dark to actually use the bathroom. Word to the wise: only used this type of light fixture if you have a very bright bathroom and have other sources of light. So after all that work I took it down. And then couldn’t find a piece of the old fixture to reconnect it. FAIL. Eventually it was found…but only after I cut myself twice on sharp wires.
Our second project was staining our deck. Totally thought we could get it done in one weekend. FAIL. The poor husband worked like crazy on it Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and it’s only just about halfway done. It was 90 degrees all weekend and if you know me you know that hot weather, hot sun, and Julie don’t mix well. At all. So I helped each evening but it just wasn’t enough to get the job done. Oh well. It will get done eventually, right?
There were some bright moments in our failure weekend.

Like successfully preparing for the upcoming Harry Potter movie this weekend by watching as many HP movies as possible.

And getting wrapped up in the women’s soccer quarter-finals.

I call that an accomplishment. How was your weekend?

Oh nooo! Bummer about the fixture! And the deck! We need to stain ours soon, but we're waiting on the pollen to subside.

Oh Julie I know all those things must have been SO frustrating. I hate that when projects don't go as planned and I can't cross them off my list. Your "And… FAIL" phrases cracked me up though.

I'm sorry the home improvement projects didn't go as planned. I'm excited for the last HP movie too! And I was so into the World Cup! Looking forward to Wednesday's game and the movie's release!

EEEK! I'm sorry to hear that you had project fails. Hopefully next weekend will be more successful. In the mean time, at least you watched HP, which always cheers HP fans up 🙂
