4th (and 5th) of July

Happy July! Our fun plans for the 4th of July were thwarted by this little lady running a temperature of 103. It was the saddest sight. We had planed to go to my mom’s lake house to spend a few days swimming and relaxing. Instead, Jon took the big kids and I stayed home with this sick little lady.

That’s real life with three kids for you! I had to still get my photo of course.

The time at the lake with the big two didn’t last long. At midnight, while I was sound asleep at home, I was awoken to four tiny feet running and jumping in to my bed. And crying for me. Hudson and Sadie were overly tired and just wanted mama. So Jon drove them back home to me. I love them something fierce. But still. Come on guys! Mama needs a break every now and then. haha.

Thankfully that little lady in the middle right there started to feel better the next day. So we celebrated the 5th of July!

We played at home, spent time together, and just enjoyed each other. And then the power went out! It’s like we just can’t win. And it was HOT. It was only supposed to be out for about two hours, and to come back on around 6pm…so we thought we could totally deal with that. But it turned out to be almost 10 hours!  I ended up in my bed with the big two (trying to keep cool) while Belle slept in her bed like the good little third child that she is. Thankfully the power came back on around 1am and I got the big two out of my bed and was able to finally enjoy some AC!

We actually had fun spending so much time together just talking and snuggling in the dark….and being thankful for three healthy kids. I hope your 4th was a happy one!

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
