36 Weeks!

How far along? 36 weeks (tomorrow)! I haven’t posted since 32 weeks…oops! And let me just say this…holy basketball belly!
Maternity clothes? Yep, basically everything is maternity these days. I’m in the maxi dress all day every day stage…so glad that it’s finally warm enough!
Stretch marks? Not that I can tell? I can’t see everything at this point, so if they are there I’m unaware….and my husband hasn’t said anything so I guess I’m good!
Sleep: I’ve mentioned it in passing but I’ve had some serious back and hip pain these past three weeks, which has made sleeping pretty uncomfortable. I’m up every hour or so to roll over (which sends shooting pains down my back) so I’m not getting much sleep. Add a few bathroom trips in there too. Amazingly last night I only woke up 3 times….so it’s getting a bit better!

Best moment this week: Mother’s Day celebrations for sure! I’ve been a little down in the dumps these past couple weeks due to my hip and back pain, but on Mother’s Day I felt better than I had in weeks. And my boys spoiled me with lots of hugs and kisses, my favorite bagels, flowers, maternity photos printed and framed, rest time for me, and my husband doing the grocery shopping (which is my least favorite chore!) and picking up dinner….it’s the little things that make me happy.
Miss Anything? I miss being able to walk without pain. I’m going to the chiropractor and my OB each week and both have said it’s probably not going to get better until this baby comes out. I’ve been in tears at the chiropractor’s office because it is just so frustrating to have all these things I want to do plus a toddler to chase around and I just can’t do it. I cannot walk or stand up without wincing or feeling like my hips might snap, and I can’t carry Hudson around any more. All of my other muscles are super tight because I’ve been overusing them in an effort to support my back and hips. It’s been heartbreaking and depressing. I don’ know how women on bed rest do it. HOWEVER….I’m on day three of feeling a little better, so I’m in much higher spirits! I’m still in pain, but it’s so much more manageable this week than it has been for the past 3 weeks, and for that I am thankful.
Movement: Lots and lots of movement up in here! And a few times the movement was so low that it felt like I would either pee my pants or the baby was going to pop out. I didn’t have that sensation when I was pregnant with Hudson because he was butt down instead of head down. It’s crazy how different a breech vs. non-breech baby feels!
Food cravings: Give me all the fruit! And juice! And lemonade/ice tea!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Sadly, yes….my morning sickness is back. Tossing my cookies once again. This baby is trying to send me a message that it would prefer to remain the baby of the family and that I shouldn’t have any more!
Gender: Less than a month to go before we know this. I seriously can’t wait! But not knowing has made everything harder…..names still aren’t picked out and the nursery still isn’t ready. The name is going to be a game day decision, I just know it. We just can’t agree!
Labor Signs: Nope, zero. I have my 36 week appointment today for the b-strep test and to get “checked”…lucky me! I need a refresher course in all labor terminology because it’s been over 2 years since we took a labor class, and then we found out we had a breech baby so I didn’t get to use any of what I learned. Plus then I became a mom and it rendered my brain useless….so I need to read up on some of this stuff!
Symptoms: Hip and back pain that is the worst ever, heartburn, queasiness, and bloody noses. I’m a HOT mess….but seriously, now that my pain is getting better, it’s so much easier to deal with all the other symptoms. These discomforts I can handle!
Belly Button in or out? Oh no, it’s starting to pop out and is the WEIRDEST THING EVER.
Wedding rings on or off? On…I’m actually not sure if I can take them off at this point.
Mood: Much improved over the past few weeks!
Looking forward to:  Popping this baby out. Stick a fork in me, I’m done!

You look so great!! So sorry for all of the back pain you are experiencing. Are you doing any types of exercises or seeing any specialists (other than chiro) to keep this baby from flipping breech? Love all your thorough details throughout pregnancy. You were so helpful to me when I had a breech baby first go round. 22 weeks pregnant now with #2 so i'm curious 🙂

So cute! You make me miss being pregnant! Stick with the Chiro for back pain.. as much as it might not feel like it's fixing much now, I feel like it helped a lot with labor and afterwards..
I totally thought I had NO stretch marks, and my husband just didn't say a thing! Haha.. he didn't want to disappoint! Thankfully they were small. Good luck!!!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with so much pain:( I had that in my pregnancy with Caleb, and almost had to go on bed rest. It's awful! Hoping these next couple of weeks go smoothly and as pain free as possible for you, Mama! You are so close!!!

You are gorgeous Julie! So I didn't get stretch marks with my first pregnancy and wasnt expecting to the second time. Well one day I noticed a strange scratch on my belly and just thought the dog had got me with her nail and went about life. It wasnt until after giving birth and still having that strange mark that I realized it was a stretch mark! I'm thankful to announce it is now gone 😉

Ugh to the back and hip pain. I feel like I had it pretty good with my one and only pregnancy, but I had terrible lower back and hip pain. Miserable. I can't even imagine adding to that a toddler to chase around. I sure hope it gets and stays even a little bit better. Good thing you are almost done.

You do look absolutely beautiful though, and its only just a few short weeks until you can hold that new little babe in your arms. I hope you get some relief from the pain soon xx

36 Weeks

Photobucket
How far along? 36 Weeks. I had an unplanned ultrasound yesterday because my doctor couldn’t tell what position baby boy was in. Turns out he’s breech….just like his mommy and his daddy. I cried in the doctor’s office. And then I cried with my mom during lunch. And then cried to my husband. I don’t know why I was so upset….pregnancy hormones got the best of me. I really don’t want to have a c-section but I realize it’s basically out of my control and that in the end it will be fine. The husband made me a playlist of songs for my ipod so that we can try and get baby to move down towards the music. And I went for a swim yesterday too (which is also supposed to help him move!). So we’ll see.
Maternity clothes? Still a mix. I basically only wear dresses and skirts now…that’s all that is comfortable!
Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: It’s getting harder to find a comfortable position but really it isn’t that bad. I think staying up late watching the Olympics is the real reason I’m tired!
Best moment this week: My baby shower over the weekend…..and that my mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law cleaned my entire house! I love a clean house so much. Oh, and my kitchen cabinets are now done! I’ll post photos next week.
Miss Anything? Not really.
Movement: Still lots of movement. Now I know that hard spot I keep feeling by my ribs is his head and not his butt!
Food cravings: Still craving lemonade and ice cream.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No.
Gender: Baby boy
 Labor Signs: Zero.
Symptoms: Lower back and hip pain and some hand swelling.

Belly Button in or out? I’ve decided belly buttons gross me out! Mine is flat right now.
Wedding rings on or off? On…most of the time.

Mood: I’m feeling very happy and blessed to have a healthy baby….but I’m still a little upset over him being breech.

Looking forward to: Checking some things off our to-do list this weekend and visiting friends.

I know its hard to think about a section but a healthy happy baby is the only outcome that matters! Everything will work out for the best and you'll be holding your sweet little baby:) On another note, you look beautiful! Try to enjoy and savor this last little bit of pregnancy. Believe it or not you'll probably miss it one day:)

My girl was breech as well. I spent many many hours upside down trying to get her to turn. Good luck and well wishes to you. I know that feeling very well. I cried and cried too in the Doc's office the day we had to make the decision to do the C section. I had to mourn the birth experience that I wanted. It's totally normal to do that. I hope he turns for you, but if he doesn't feel free to email me if you need a confidant. megan.volnoff @ gmail.com

Had that same hard lump under my ribs with our son Nick, laid on my back with bottom up on as many pillows as I could, a couple of times a day, and he turned! Good exercises to try, but regardless, getting your son here safe and sound, is the goal. Praying he turns!

I am hoping all of that music and swimming puts your sweet baby in the right position! But you're right, in the end it will be fine and you'll have a healthy baby boy!

    Have a lovely day 🙂

Hi there! I just wanted to encourage you to find a prenatal yoga instructor in your area. There are several yoga positions that you can practice to help baby turn naturally. You can also google "yoga + breech" and I'm sure you can find at least a few articles. Just because he's breech now doesn't mean there's no time for him to turn! Hang in there!

You still have time for him to turn. Im a NICU nurse so I go to alot of deliveries. If the baby is still breech at 40wks dont let a doctor let you delivery vaginal it is NOT safe. Ask for a C-section.

Sorry to hear baby boy is breech! Our childbirth teacher lady actually talked about breech babies at our last class and recommended this website (http://spinningbabies.com) I guess there's some different positions and things you can try to get baby to spin. She thought it was the greatest website ever…who knows though, right?
