SIX

Six. Yesterday my baby turned six years old.

What? How is that possible? He was just born.

My little baby. I can’t even handle it.

Hudson, you are smart and funny and silly and sweet. You are more than I ever could have imagined. You give the best hugs and kisses and love your mommy, daddy, and sister’s with your whole heart.

You learned to ride a bike without training wheels last month and were so proud of yourself. You love soccer, pokemon, kindergarten, gym time at school, video games, stuffed animals, nerf guns, cars, legos, and Harry Potter. You have the best imagination and are always super inquisitive and curious. You love to “read” (aka memorize books and pretend to read them)  and can’t wait to read for real.

You make friends easily and always see the best in people. You love animals and have a sweet spot for your little sisters, even when they drive you crazy. You are my biggest fan, and I am yours sweet boy. You always ask me “mommy, will you love me forever, even when I’m big?” because you love to hear me answer with “yes, I will love you forever and ever, even when you are big like daddy.”

You made me a mama. And my love for you knows no bounds. I love you with all my heart sweet boy, and I can’t wait to see what year six has in store for you! Happy birthday!

To manage stress, I try to take frequent breaks, remember to smile and laugh every day, carve out some alone time every morning, exercise daily, and turn to friends and other resources available to me if I need extra support. Anyone relate?

Gentle. That’s the word I’ve chosen for 2021. Gentle. That’s the word I’ve chosen for 2021. Gentle with my children. Gentle with my family. Gentle with myself. Gentle with those who believe differently than I do. Couldn’t we all use a little more gentleness? After 8 years of raising babies and a crazy 2020 it’s what my mind, body, and soul needs. And my kids and family need it from me too. Have you chosen a word for 2021? If so, let me know what it is! (and thank you @bluegrassred for the word inspo! I heard her talk about it a few times on @pantsuitpolitics and I couldn’t get it out of my head. Exactly what I need for this year!)
