Our Remodeling Party

Okay, I’m back. Did you miss me? The past few days have been exhausting, to say the least. We spent Friday-Monday working on the house all day. We would get up, go to the house, work all day, make several trips to lowes and home depot (they started recognizing me!) and then come back to the condo and go to bed. We are so tired! But, we got a ton done! We had my in-laws, Jon and Connie, and sister-in-law Erin, over on Saturday to help out with painting. Here is what we did: painted the living room, family room, and master bedroom. We primed the kitchen but did not get it painted (mostly because we were so sick of painting, but also because I couldn’t decide on a color). Danny came over on Sunday and Monday to help the husband replace the locks on both of the doors, pull up the carpet in the living room and family room, and remove the built-in shelf in the laundry room (the shelf was at a bad height so it had to go…apparently it was really in there because by the time they got it down it looked like a wolverine had slashed up the walls!).

Here is the living room. We painted it a light green. The carpet was beyond repair so we had to order new carpet and the boys took out the old stuff. It is still sitting in our garage.

Here is the family room. We painted the accent wall “toffee crunch” and the side walls “gobi desert”….yeah, I got really familiar with the paint colors at home depot. All of that molding was such a pain to paint! The carpet was also removed from this room.

Here are the carpet guys installing the new carpet. It looks great!

I chatted it up with them and learned all about the carpet instillation process. They also were able to touch up a few spots upstairs where the previous owner’s dog scratched and tor the carpet. We had the upstairs carpet professionally cleaned but they were unable to do the downstairs because it was in such bad shape! I have no idea how people could ruin carpet in 6 years…but I’m so glad we have clean new stuff!

We also had the plumber come to install a new faucet and fix the leaky sink. Oh, did I mention that all of these people were over at the same time?!?! It was like a big remodeling party. The plumber also installed our new stove and dryer.

Here is the guy from lowes installing our refrigerator. He took one look at me and said “weren’t you in the store this morning?”…..sadly, I was…and ended up going back two more times that day!

Here is the stove…man, our kitchen was a mess!

My man putting on gloves…they were a little tight.

Danny patching up the wolverine walls in the laundry room.

Me programming the garage door openers…I did it all by myself! I also replaced all of the toilet seats…didn’t think you would want to see a picture of that though.

We got so much done, but still have a lot to do! We are planning on moving in this weekend. We have some friends who are going to help us out….wish us luck!

Looks like you got a lot done! Painting takes forever, doesn’t it? Always waaayyy longer than anticipated. Nice choice on the Gobi Desert, that is what we painted our master bath. Can’t wait to see it. I hope you figured out how to use the electric roller, it helps everything go faster. I am pretty sure Chris will still be helping you move on Saturday, but I have to work unfortunately (busy season). Keep up the good work and see you soon!
