Oh Christmas Lights

Photobucket
I think I mentioned last week that we hung up our Christmas lights, didn’t I? In any case we got to work early this year and were able to put them up when it was warm outside instead of snowing like last year!
Speaking of last year, remember our dilemma?
We used LED lights for the first time and boy, were they bright! Even though we were fans of LED lights in general, they just didn’t look good on our house. They were too bright and cool compared to the warm lights inside our house and on our Christmas tree.
Photobucket
So last year I picked up some new traditional lights at an after Christmas sale. I plan to get more this year so that we can do the second story too. I think it looks so much better, don’t you?
In other news I also made a new wreath for our front door!

Photobucket
An “R” of course!
Photobucket
It was really easy to make. I picked up a large “R” from Joann’s (50% off!) and then just used some old garland I had lying around.
Photobucket
I wrapped the garland around the “R” and used the wire already in the garland to secure it.
Photobucket
Then I fluffed the branches out to cover the entire “R”.
Photobucket
I added some sparkly pine cones and some red berries to the top…then secured it on our door with some burlap. The whole project cost me only $7.
Did you put up your Christmas lights?

Of course I love the R! 🙂 And the lights look great! We had the same issue with LED lights, but luckily we found yellow LED options, so they're more like traditional lights.

Very cute, I am loving your decorations! We went LED and our house is the brightest on the street, but I'm over it, they're staying. It's like a night light for the people across the street with kids. lol
