It’s the Little Things….Like Picnics

Hudson is so excited to be out of school for the summer. He will miss his school friends but keeps talking about how much fun he’ll have with his family this summer….meanwhile I’m worried about how I’ll manage to entertain all three kids for three months. That’s a long time! One of my favorite activities to do on days when we are at home together is to have a picnic in our yard. It’s a simple and fun way to spend some time together. These moments with them being little are going so fast. Right now Hudson and Sadie enjoy playing with each other…and I hope that continues, because it is my most favorite thing. They truly are friends….and it’s so cute.

For our little picnic I packed up our favorite snacks and brought everything outside for an afternoon of fun at home. It’s the little things like this that my kids seem to enjoy the most…and talk about for days to come. And it’s crazy how something so simple can be the highlight of our day. Watching them eat together and talk was so fun for me too!

As a mom, I just want to freeze these little moments and keep them forever. It’s so strange to feel excitement and joy over your kids growing up and learning new things, but at the same time to feel sad and wish for them to stay little forever. Motherhood is crazy like that. I blinked and my babies turned in to kids.

Part of the way through our picnic the kids had to take a break from snacking and jump in some puddles! It has been raining a lot lately so we have this giant puddle in the front of our yard. I’m trying to be more of a “yes” mom when I can. And that simple yes from me made me the coolest mom ever in their eyes.

Totally worth the load of laundry that followed.
