Goodbye Crib

Well, our good thing has come to an end. It’s time for a big girl bed. Yes, that’s right. My sweet girl has slept like an angel in her crib for over three years #favoritechild.

So many friends are shocked when I mention that Sadie still sleeps in a crib at three years old. And honestly I never thought she would last this long. But she never once complained and never once tried to climb out….so we just stuck with it. She loves her bed and willingly slept in it all night long. So why mess with a good thing? When Hudson was two and a half we transitioned him out of his crib and in to a big kid bed so that we could use the crib for Sadie…and he’s been a lousy sleeper ever since. So we knew when I got pregnant with Belle that we would just buy a second crib instead of pushing her transition too soon.

Over the last few weeks Sadie has been asking for a big girl bed….so I knew our time was running short. Dang I’m going to miss these days. Sadie sleeping so well in her crib has been a blessing. And I would do it all over again if I could. But she’s ready to move up to a big kid bed. I’m not. I want to keep her little forever.

I’m going to miss this crib that both my big kids slept in every night. I just can’t give it up and plan on keeping it forever (or for as long as Jon will let me).

This feels like it was just yesterday. Why do babies have to grow up so fast?

We have the same crib (for both of my girls now!) and it’s the best! I’ll be so sad when we need to say goodbye to it, so I completely understand how you feel. It sounds like she’s ready, though! Go Sadie!

Sweet Sadie is going to miss her cozy crib and the fun time jumping every morning when she wakes up but she will enjoy her new big girl bed. She will also love the option to sleep in the bunk beds with big brother!

My son is 3 years 8 months and still sleeps in a crib. He sleeps so amazing in it, I don’t want to mess with a good thing. He is very high energy, so I like the fact that he is safely contained for a period of time. Actually, we tried to transition the crib to a toddler bed over the summer but he kept getting out and wouldn’t sleep. So on the side went again and back he went to sleeping. I guess I’ll enjoy it while it lasts!
