An Accidental Santa Visit

It’s officially the Christmas season! I LOVE me some Thanksgiving but it’s always fun to welcome in Christmas the day after stuffing myself with turkey and mashed potatoes…don’t you agree? We had a great Thanksgiving with my in-laws…and I even did my very first ever black Friday shopping! After scoring some major deals at Target I was a happy camper. And thanks to the small town my in-laws live in, we didn’t have to fight the crowds. Win, win. After shopping we headed home so that we could decorate for Christmas. And let me tell you….decorating with a two year old in tow is no easy task….especially when there are trucks and trains and everything is so much fun. I’m pretty sure Hudson had the best weekend ever.
We went to pick out our Christmas tree and Hudson was in heaven. He loved running around the trees, hiding between them, and jumping out suddenly to “scare” us. But his most favorite part was helping carry the tree to the tree trimmer guys. Hudson was facinated with the chain saw and loved watching them cut some lower branches off of our tree and then wrap it up. He could have watched them all day!
Hudson’s second favorite part of the day was seeing Santa’s reindeer!

We totally lucked out that they were visiting the same day we were there….or we looked it up online and timed it just right. Whichever.
Hudson’s least favorite part of the day was seeing the Big Man in Red himself. I didn’t realize he would be there too, otherwise I would have brought my camera and maybe dressed Hudson a little cuter….but probably none of that would have mattered because Hudson wanted nothing to do with Santa. We watched from a safe distance while Santa waived to us…but Hudson wasn’t going to budge.
Until he saw that the kids that visited him got a candy cane. Then it was game on….but he wanted Daddy to go up there for him. He kept saying “Daddy do it.”
Finally Daddy offered to go up with him and we gave it our best shot. He lasted about 3 seconds  on Santa’s lap. Oh well. Maybe next year?

Such a fun time of year! Especially with toddlers! Christmas just gets more and more fun every year with these kiddos, doesnt it? I'm definitely going to have to bribe K to sit with Santa because I know for a fact she will be terrified!

Last year, Caleb was too young to know what was going on, and gladly sat on Santa's lap. This year? I don't foresee it going well. At all. I'm hoping I'll even get 3 seconds – or long enough to snap a photo, even if it involves some crying. Hudson did great! And he looks so cute in his little hat! Love it:) And love your decor, Mama! That cookie jar is beyond words. Adore!:)

What a cutie! Love his little hat! And that's a pretty respectable Santa, compared to some of the others that I've seen in these pics!

Would love to see how you decorate your home once it's all put together– it's our first Christmas in our house and I'm desperately needing ideas 🙂

It is such fun! But I totally get the being scared of Santa thing. He's kinda loud and in charge and bright and all 🙂 Maybe you can get in a better visit next year.

It really is true when they say the days are long It really is true when they say the days are long but the years are short. One day I’m struggling to carry two babies at a time while wrangling a toddler and then next minute they are all off to school and practices and friends’ houses. With all three kids in school we’ve been thinking a lot about their futures and how we are going to one day pay for college. We set up a Michigan Education Trust 529 plan for each of our kids when they were babies and I am SO happy we did! With a MET account, we can pay for future college tuition at today’s prices. With MET’s discounted age-based pricing the earlier you start, the more you are able to save! Plus grandparents and other loved ones can contribute to my kids’ accounts too! With MET you get back what you put in if your child chooses a different path and the money goes with you if your child goes to school out of state. You can even transfer it to immediate family members and all contributions to MET plans are tax deductible! To learn more about how to set up a MET account and the benefits of starting your child’s account early, check out my stories or the link in my bio. @mieducationtrust #sponsored #SETwithMET #MI529 #collegesavings #METSept2023
