5 on Friday

Three cheers for Friday! I’m so glad it’s finally almost the weekend! As usual I’m linking up with the lovely ladies of The Good Life, A. Liz Adventures, Carolina Charm, and Hello Happiness for 5 on Friday…and you should too!
{one} I featured this jacket in my spring wish list yesterday, but here it is on! I am obsessed and want to wear it all the time! For size reference I’m wearing a medium and it’s a little roomy in the body but perfect in the arms. It is adjustable but I kind of like it with the extra room. And the hood scrunches up too if you want and it is adorable! I’m so happy with my purchase!

p.s. love the laundry on the floor behind me? #keepingitreal
{two} I bought this wooden paddle brush from Aveda this week and it is like the best hair brush I’ve EVER had! It doesn’t pull your hair and it is super easy to use when blow drying. I didn’t think it could be possible to love a hair brush so much!

{three} This news story about self magazine making fun of a cancer survivor running in a tutu was blowing up my facebook feed yesterday. It’s sad that a magazine promoting women’s health would make fun of anyone who is trying to lead a healthy lifestyle…let alone a women who runs in a tutu and also makes them, sells them on her website, and donates the proceeds to charity. Shame on you self mag. I won’t be buying you anymore.

{four} I had an amazing chat with a soon to be mom about breastfeeding this week. When I think back about how it was often stressful to pump at work and keep my supply up I sometimes can’t believe I actual did it all. But at the same time, I can’t imagine not doing it. I miss those quiet moments that belonged to just me and Hudson. If you want to learn more about my Breastfeeding Diaries series please check it out here…and email me if you have any questions. I love being able to encourage other moms…breastfeeding or not.

{five} On that note…..amen. Isn’t it awesome when women encourage one another?

Wow! SELF is my favourite magazine and I am shocked that they would print something like this. It's usually so positive and motivating..

and she was going through chemo to boot. i wonder what happened to the poop poor person that wrote the article? ouch. aveda products are amazing. i made the full switch over a year ago. their face lotions are to die for. that's an exaggeration, but it's the only lotion that doesn't make me break out. love aveda.

That Self article was all over my newsfeed yesterday too and made me really disappointed – hopefully this was just a one-time glaring error that they quickly correct. On a happier note, we're currently running a giveaway at The Sequin Notebook for Milky lactation supply beverage…thought you and the other Breastfeeding Diaries ladies may be interested πŸ™‚ Have a fab weekend!

I have that brush and it is amazing! I still can't believe the craziness with SELF magazine. I also linked up to 5 on Friday (for the first time). I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Love your five today – from the jacket to the awesome quote:) Very sad that SELF would run such a terrible story. Someone's job will probably be on the line for that one! And oh, man – do I remember the days of pumping 3-4 times while working a 10 hour day. Ugh. So thankful that I don't have to do that anymore. Caleb and I are still breastfeeding, and planning to do it until he is one. But, if I was still working full time, I don't think I would have been able to keep it going up to this point! It was HARD!!!

  10. Ashley @TheCreamToMyCoffee says

    March 28, 2014 at 3:31 pm

I seriously can't believe that SELF article – I have always been a big fan of their magazine – not anymore πŸ™

I love that quote from Dave Willis!

I LOVE your #4. I'm 8 months into breastfeeding with 3-4 pumping sessions a day because I work. It is SOOOO hard. It makes me crazy because some people act like I should "just make more milk" and other people act like I should just give formula to make things easier. It feels like no one really understands what this process is like. Your breastfeeding diaries always provide a little pick-me-up halfway through the work week when I find myself in a slump over pumping, supply, and is-she-eating-enough anxiety.

    March 28, 2014 at 4:28 pm

Love the jacket! I nursed my daughter for a year, while working full time. I was lucky in that I was in my own office and could just shut my door. I do hate pumping though. This time is so much easier since I work from home- I can just whip that boob out! Ha!

  13. Tawnya Faust says

    March 28, 2014 at 4:30 pm

Love that jacket, I've been looking for something similar myself! Also, thanks for shaming SELF magazine, I won't be buying any more of those… such a shame πŸ™

  14. Kasey Lynne says

    March 28, 2014 at 4:43 pm

LOVE that jacket! It might be in my cart already πŸ˜‰

That's so aggravating to hear about that self magazine article making fun of that girl. Seriously??

That SELF magazine article makes me SO mad!!! And now I'm sad I think I have a subscription – I will not be renewing. It's bad enough to bash someone's personal fun, but bashing someone's personal fun, leading a fit life and overcoming her fight with cancer, double, no TRIPLE shame SELF!

I love the jacket – what a great staple piece for your wardrobe! I think the roomy fit will come in handy for you in the fall when you want to transition the jacket into a colder weather wardrobe too! πŸ™‚

5 on Friday

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

High five for Friday! Today I’m linking up with the lovely ladies of The Good Life, Carolina Charm, A. Liz Adventures, and Hello Happiness and you should too! Let’s get this party started…

{one} Our Citrus Lane box arrived about five minutes before I was about to have a whinny-toddler induced melt-down and totally saved the day….these boxes seriously have the best timing! And as usual, we loved our box! (If you don’t know, Citrus Lane is a subscription service of age appropriate surprises delivered right to your door step. We are always thrilled with our box and love trying out new toys and products! Coupon for $10 off here.) This time we got a build-a-sandwich from Green toys, which immediately got put to use in Hudson’s play kitchen. We also got a silicone divided plate from Oogaa….and it’s my new favorite. It stays put on Hudson’s highchair and is perfect for toddler size meals. In our box was Starlight Sailor board book…and it is SO beautiful. Hudson always gets super excited when there is a book in his box…and this one is such great quality and the images are seriously amazing! Finally, there was some green apple age defy hand cream from Juice Beauty…and I love it! Perfect for my dry winter skin! Click here for $10 off your first Citrus Lane box AND free shipping! You can cancel your subscription at any time.

{two} This boy just kills me. I can’t get enough of his coffee-table-dancing antics. And don’t forget to enter the $50 Carter’s giveaway here.

{three} See what I mean about crazy antics? This kid is non-stop. What did I do for entertainment before I had him?

{four} Speaking of entertainment, we switched cable providers and now have more channels than ever…except for the CW….which means no more Vampire Diaries. Oh my word, I LOVE that stupid show. Now I have to remember to watch it online…which is a bummer because I have to watch the commercials and can’t just fast forward through them on my dvr. First world problems right here.

{five} We’ve had a lot of sponsored content up in here lately, so thank you for sticking around. I only work with companies that I trust and can stand behind…so please know I am being 100% honest! We love us some Huggies diapers in our house…and we would love for you to help out with the Every Little Bottom campaign here…it’s for a good cause! I’ve worked with some larger companies lately but really my heart is really in working with other bloggers and small businesses. As a thank you I’m offering 20% off all sponsorship ads now until Sunday! Use code “thanks” at checkout. You can view my sponsorship options here.

p.s. the blogger lucky recipe link up starts on Monday! Come back for details on how to link up your St. Patrick’s Day recipe and participate in our swap!

Toddlers are hilarious! He's so cute with that shirt over his head. Owen loves covering his face with his hat or a blanket and walking around and running into things…. BOYS! Have you tried making the paper boat at the end of the book? We made one the first time we read it and Owen was so upset he couldn't fit inside it.

We have the Green Toys sandwich toy and play will it all the time. A makes me boogers and "toast" (all bread is toast)… Today I had "toast" with cheese and tomato, got to work on "grilled cheese".

We are most likely ditching our cable soon, I'm going to miss E! so much!!

And I agree, sponsored content is great, but only if it's relevant. Like, I'm not a beauty blogger so why would I post about drug store make up? I think sometimes people forget why their readers like coming to their blog. The Huggies Challenge really is a great cause, too. Proud to be a part of it!

5 on Friday

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

It’s FINALLY Friday! That means I’m linking up with A. Liz Adventures, Carolina Charm, Hello! Happiness, and The Good Life Blog for 5 on Friday. Go check them out!

 photo DSC_1575.jpg
{one} I’m so excited for 4th of July! I’m a little behind at my decorating lately (blame it on a busy almost 10 month old boy) but luckily Andrea from Aidie’s Hideaway sent me the cutest star garland! If you follow her on instagram (aidieshideaway) she has amazing flash sales and specials!

 photo DSC_1534.jpg
I’m sort of obsessed with it!

{two} I got this dress the other day to wear to a wedding this weekend. It’s my first high-low dress and although I was nervous about it at first, it’s super cute on!

{three} I really want to see The Heat. Sandra Bullock AND Melissa McCarthy? Yes please!

{four} I don’t often talk about my political or personal beliefs on this blog. But I love this blog post: I Love Gay People and I Love Christians, I Choose All:

“…care for the poor and sick and lonely and hungry and imprisoned and widowed and orphaned and recently immigrated. Maybe we should all be required to pick an issue that requires US to change  and not OTHERS to change. I think that’d be good”

Trust me…it’s worth the read.

 photo DSC_1602.jpg

{five} Hudson thinks he’s a puppy and carries his blocks around in his mouth. I am in love with this boy.
